Grimoire_of_Alice 30 Share Posted April 21, 2015 As a first time captain for my team I do think we did pretty well. No one really called per say but was more of 1-2 guys sub-calling at a time. We won 6 but lost 3, could have definitely been better but meh, could have been worse. Post what you learned from this tourney 3 vs 3 session in the discussion below This is only my third tourney that I participated in so obviously I've learned a few things pertaining to the last 9 battles we had. Few things in general I learned: Always bring at least 1 fucking heavy, don't be that guy that brings 3 Cromwells thinking you'll out play them despite the large hp disadvantage. Always stick together, an iso'd tank is a dead tank If you spawned south and you get to the other spawn, never peek the sides of the D line without an escape plan and vice versa Use capping only to draw out a team that's slower and heavier if nothing else. A-43 shooting the 57mm is not bad, not bad at all I'm too lazy to put down the rest but yeah this discussion is for the benefit of all Wotlabs teams.
MudDuck375 42 Share Posted April 21, 2015 We ran two kv-85s and an m6 to good effect, 8-1. Yes, with only 3 tanks, all tanks must be able to support one another.
AirG 1,089 Share Posted April 21, 2015 Ran mostly light tanks, went 4-5. TIL last minute teams with subpar players in PBKAC is a recipe for disaster. It was still okay, my calling could have been better. I had a lot of distractions that didn't help. And having to leave for one game is still annoying.
Patient0 794 Share Posted April 21, 2015 No point of having a caller in 3v3s. Team synergy at that point is more important. quentincf, Griphos and Ollie Tabooger
Merky_Merc 79 Share Posted April 21, 2015 This skirmish takes up so much damn time x_x We also went 6-3, a couple of derpy moves leaving a bit to be desired. Also just 3 players means that any mistake is GG was close.
zapyoug 2,141 Share Posted April 21, 2015 we ran 2 85s and 1 A43 I learned that getting into a face to face brawl with 2 heavies and 1 med against 3 heavies is a poor life decision and we only won is I am literally a cockroach (won every battle thou still) heavies seemed like it wouldent have been a bad idea however, enemy lights/med can be an issue with that as they can just fuck off leading you on a merry chase sometimes our team had no proper caller though which could have been an issue a few times when we were separated telling eachother to go the other way tmrw seems like a choice beetween grabbing a buncha heavies and going to cap or grabbing a ton of meds/lights and playing vision games
donalson99 6 Share Posted April 21, 2015 8 wins and 1 draw (cromwell ran away when we where 2v1) and we couldn't find him in time. ran 2 kv85 and a t37... t37 provided view range and some nice DPM where needed... last game I took out 2 heavies from behind although slightly too late (they took out my 2 heavies)... was able to out play the last VK they had left (bunch of blue players)... I was pleased with the outcome tonight. only ran into 1 kv2 all night and was able to keep him at a safe distance... only one of the mobile only teams (cromwell/light combo) gave us any problems (the draw)

Tuesday's map is murovanka (iirc), in which triple T37/Cromwell could actually work.
Panzer9Supertiger 365 Share Posted April 21, 2015 We didn't lose a single game in the first bracket, ran 2 KV-85s and a T37. Rhoregis

Sorphius 508 Share Posted April 21, 2015 Lost one running two KV-85s and a Cromwell. By all rights we *should* have gone undefeated, but we completely derped out against the other blunicum team in our group and were shat upon when the differential in player skill wasn't enough to overcome our poor tactical decision. Moral of the story: if you send your Cromwell into the train depot to get side shots on the three heavy tanks in cap, you'd better make damn well sure he knows how to get out when said heavies push into his teammates at E/F3. Griphos 81 Share Posted April 21, 2015 Anybody insane enough to run 3xTOG yet? Actually, I let my team talk me into it for one battle, 'cause raisins. We were cocky at that point, having done well so far, and we're in it for the lulz. We actually almost won it. One tank each with one shot each left and the T150 loaded a split second quicker for that last shot. Would have won it if I hadn't lost half my health just leaving the spawn to snipes from a clever T-150 on tank alley and again on the 5 road. I hit back each time, but the dmg trade wasn't good, of course. Otherwise we mostly ran an all heavy line-up, which has the advantage on the town maps, I think.

KraftLawrence 1,435 Share Posted April 21, 2015 2 ARL 1 37 worked well
weesh 669 Share Posted April 21, 2015 We ran into a Tog/Tog/AT8. Managed to perma track one with his butt sticking out, got him down to 400 hp before relocation was required. Just prior to the start, we did a scrimmage with another mafia team. We couldn't make KV/KV/T37 work against them, and abandoned the heavy strat. Crom/Crom/T37 was disappointing in result. 6 wins, 1 loss, 2 ties. One tie should have been a win, one should have been a loss.
Thannos 17 Share Posted April 21, 2015 similar stories, ran 2ARL & 1 Kv85. lost 3- one to a fast cap, 2 to us not really having a plan in the first two games-which we really should hav won. After that our strat (using that loosly) worked as we could out alpha them, and those ARL tracks are like magnets to plebs. Tonight will be vision and speed is my guess. Kilpanic 471 Share Posted April 21, 2015 We ran light until we realized that we didn't have the skill to overcome a larger hp pool and dumb luck, so heavied up our comp a bit and went undefeated in our last four, for a 6-3 record. I'd rather the Type 62 anyway; I can buy the 13
JasterMereel 8 Share Posted April 21, 2015 We went 9-0 and 3-0'd every match. 2 KV-85's and a cromwell. KenadianCSJ
TankSplosions 130 Share Posted April 21, 2015 We went 5 and 4. Started of with Type 64, ARL and T-34-85. Learned very quickly that more beef was needed so switched to ARL, KV-85 and KV-2 derp. Our KV-2 Baby_Thot is a MONSTER at spotting shit falling across the map. We got dat intel early in 3 games. It gave us the win in 2 of them. Overall, considering we've never played together before and none of us had ever played a tournament (much less 3v3) I think we did pretty damned well. Tonight should be interesting. We're actually going to get together and practice a bit before hand this time. 10/10. Was fun. Will do again.
