Having trouble with passive tanks.

Recommended Posts

I am having trouble with tanks with passive playstyle (Non-british TDs, 50 100, 50 120, although last one is completely stock :# )

It's mostly because I have no patience to wait, most of the times I get punished is when I just don't wait bit longer for enemies to reach position.

So, if someone could name few tanks that could teach me this valuable lesson, it would be great if they are in mid tiers (easier to get, possible to make profit). Currently learning with "Toothpick" Panther, although this one is a bit more forgiving then I want, since it has quite good reverse speed and armour can bounce from time to time.

As for why am I not training it in aforementioned tanks, it's because they are quite expensive to run for a person without premium and with them I have to master more then one skillset, and I just want to focus now only on one, if possible.

Do you want something that'll get you shat on if you make a mistake, or something that forgives mistakes?

SU-85 and SU-100 are fairly forgiving campy TDs that can be used as fairly nippy assault guns.

Nashorn will shit on you if you make a single mistake and you have to camp waaaaay bak to use it.

I guess I need tanks that will punish me more for making mistakes, because I will never learn when I've gone too far and change myself.

I have quite good understanding of camo/view range system, it's just that I still don't have feeling when I have to fall back or I am just too damn close.  =D

Any thoughts on Hellcat?

It's been nerfed into the ground. Way to sluggish, can't reverse, turret rotation is glacial, bloom is ridiculous and DPM isn't great.

Sounds like something you want. :P

I hate it because it can't stand up to anything else even remotely close, but that might make it a good teacher.

For starters, learn that passive isn't a playstyle. Cautious maybe, primarily reactive, but not passive.

There is a thread on micropositions in the Metagame subforum.  It has many different spots where you can get one or two shots of early damage with low risk to your tank.  Use those in the beginning of the battle and then figure out where to go based on team deployment.  I've been doing that in the Leo PTA and it's been working out fairly well for me.

Thanks for that information, I will surely check it.

Hehehe, *trollface*

My guess is that I will try with mix of Nashorn/Hellcat and SU line(they seem to be easy way for TD missions) and with touch of AT 8 (Driving it more then one battle per week will drive me insane, but I have to finish it... *sigh*)

Of course. But it's good that you reminded passive != cautious. :)
