Zoofje 2 Share Posted July 17, 2015 Hi guys, just a short introduction of me. The name is Zoofje and I play on the EU servers. I've been playing this game for a couple of months now, and I'm enjoying it more and more. In my opinion WoT has a very steep learning curve and I'm fine with that. I'm dedicated to getting my stats up and I don't believe in rerolls. I see that I'm making progression, but it's going to take me much more games to get my stats up and become a better player. Not a problem, I want to invest the time in that. The reason I joined this forum is to learn and become a better player, but not to take any shortcuts. I want to learn the hard way! I have a couple of tanks (up to tier 6) I can play with, but I'm not really sure what my favourite type is. I think I like playing TD's and Light tanks the most at this moment, but I also play medium and heavy when I'm platooning with some friends. Thanks in advance for any tips and tricks and I hope to see you on the battlefield. TheEmptyLord and Starfflame
Siimcy 3,522 Share Posted July 17, 2015 Hey there. Firstly I'd like to welcome you abroad! Secondly I'd like to give you some advice for starters which should help you. Don't play lights as a beginner because it's probs the hardest class to master and I'd heavily suggest you to start with a heavy line, I'd advise you to go down the T110E5 'murican heavy line or the IS7 which is the russian heavy line. I do think heavy tanks are the best for beginners because first of all you got the armor to bounce stuff which increases your survivalbility. I did started out with TDs mostly but I rarely play them just beause I find mediums to be more fun as they are very flexible but they do take more skill and that's why I suggest you to start with something easier, heavy tanks. Britzz 500 Share Posted July 17, 2015 I'll repost a welcome message I already posted, since it's appropriate 2k battles is usually when u realize u like the game and want to stay. From here on there are 3 options:- You either deny yout way to 40k battles and become one of the toxic players out there- You sit there and then end up being an average player fairly happy with his average results- You strive to become better and better, eventually ending up owning your way out of the battlefield. This is the first step for the 3rd path, welcome to wotlabs At 1k battles I had the same overall WN8 as you, you have time to grow and you found just the right place to do it Zoofje and Starfflame
kolni 69,670,872 Share Posted July 17, 2015 You're sub 2k games.. you probably haven't mastered the actual mechanics yet so I'd definitely start off with that. Go read up on vision mechhanics as a whole. That includes view range, the spotting system, how camo works and all that other stuffGet to know what is pushing too far and when you're hanging back too much, be aware constantly of what you're doing, try to always stay in control of whatever situation you decide to place yourself in, and analyse it, constantly. Analysing your own gameplay will make you realise what you're doing wrong. I personally think catching yourself doing something stupid is the best cure for doing it again, but there are other ways, there are replay review threads in the tape study section of the forum where you'll have more than enough people to get critique from. I did started out with TDs mostly but I rarely play them just beause I find mediums to be more fun as they are very flexible but they do take more skill and that's why I suggest you to start with something easier, heavy tanks.I did this in low tiers Oh god how I regret having two tier 2 tanks as top 5 most played tanks (T18 - T2 Light) -____-TD's are very easy to learn as well, it's all about firing lanes really, but I suggest for everyone to put them on hold, because firing lanes does not mean campy opportunistic gameplay where you literally do the useless damage on the end with your alpha when the game is already decided anyway (70% of the TD playerbase does this and think they're playing well) Starfflame
Starfflame 98 Share Posted July 17, 2015 Greetings!Obviously I'm not a provider of information since I really suck, but it's good to be in company with fellow noobs. The road to not sucking ass is going to be a long, perhaps frustrating one. The nice thing about being here is that we have the opportunity to take that road together. It's nice that you seek for advice already so early on which probs mean that you will evolve while the deniers will keep on denying and will never get better. Sgt. Pepper 55 Share Posted July 17, 2015 I'd personally go take a look at the wiki. Learn the mechanics (vision and armor angling) and then the maps. Another thing I recommend is making tank line decisions. Start deciding what lines you want to go down, like possibly both American heavy lines, or the russian medium and IS-7 line or maybe the french heavy+med line. I say that because, if you find yourself wanting a bite of clan wars, you need to have clan war viable tanks. Nobody wants your 4202, German tier 10 arty monster, or T110E4. So yeah, notably find a HT line you like (something with armor, i.e. not frenchies), grab a vision tank (low armor med/light/russian medium), grab an arty (teaches you places arty can hit you) and even a support (low armor TD(waffle line) or autoloader(frenchies)). For tier progression, stick to tier 5/6. Once you reach light green(even yellow), you can always earn money in tier 7.
