Sit awareness, torp armament expert, superintendent, advanced firing training (gives you some ability to camosnipe), basics of detectability and for the finishers probably high alert and aiming expert. That would be my build for a high tier JP dd.

As for the how to play the Sims. I stay at max range and shoot, shoot, shoot. I play it like a CA, but with much greater maneuverability. Get every upgrade you can to help you turn. It will like time to learn to hit anything because of the high arc the shells take. Fire HE all the time.  If you have DD teammates make sure they are between you and the red team. (You will be maneuvering all over the place to avoid being hit.) They will launch torps and will hit you by accident if you get between them and the red team. You generally are making yourself as annoying as possible. This allows your teammates to take much less damage. Keep threatening their CAP. You will draw a lot of attention. I had had 2 BB's and 2 CV's trying to kill me last night. They failed and I was able to cap with help (my help killed the BB's) I dodged 7 torp attacks and 5 dive bomber attacks. I would get the captain skill to allow you to move and turn with a broken engine or rudder. (4 point skills).

Use every island you can to avoid being hit. You can shoot over a lot of the small ones. Getting torp hits are situational. I work toward a ship using islands and try to ambush them. But, if you succeed, it usually gets you wrecked. So, kill or cripple something of value. (BB or high tier CA)

Do not bind anything else to "P" because you can't rebind it. Sigh.

Where to start with ships? I don't know shit about anything in wows. Are there any essential posts about basics, classes and trees?

3 absolutely simple questions from a lazy newbie:

-Are low tiers as cancerous as they are in WoT?

-Do DDs give a similar experience to lights/meds in WoT?(Asking as a kinda dedicated batchat/LT player.)

-Are BBs or more importantly CVs actually fun to play? (From a BC player point of view again)

3 absolutely simple questions from a lazy newbie:

-Are low tiers as cancerous as they are in WoT?

Yes and no.

Yes - because there are new people who have no clue what they are doing and being in generally fragile ships, makes it harder to carry.

No - T5 and under are FUN AS SHIT and it isn't nearly as blatant clubbing as low tiers in WOT.

T3-4 BBs are cancer to play.\

-Do DDs give a similar experience to lights/meds in WoT?(Asking as a kinda dedicated batchat/LT player.)

Yes - but it is much more basic.  Know your detection range and that's it for the most part - there are a few modifiers for detectability, but the numbers are nearly as 'hidden' as they are in WOT

-Are BBs or more importantly CVs actually fun to play? (From a BC player point of view again)

Low tier BBs are cancer.  Low tier CVs are OP because AA is nonexistant in low tiers.

Higher tiers things tend to balance out and are both pretty enjoyable.

No, they're actually kind of fun, especially in the Wyoming, CVs and DDs. In fact low tiers are the best fun for DDs IMO.

In that they're stealthy and fragile, yes. However the playstyle is all about taking ground early and then flexing about delivering torps when needed. The US and JP DDs play very differently as well, with JP DDs having excellent torpedoes and being stealthy while the US DDs have better guns.

BBs are great fun to play. People are very bad at driving them and complain too much.

CVs are fun but very hot and cold. They're working on changing up the MM so you don't get games where you get stomped because the enemy had a fighter deck carrier 2 tiers above you or games where you stomp face because you have strike deck vs no carriers.

Skills for Murmansk?

basic firing training (hi i heard you like extra DPM), situational awareness (WoWs 6th sense, useful for knowing when a minekaze is nearby), torp armament expert (only if you use torps as often as i do... lol), aiming expert (only if you brawl very often and find yourself maneuvering a lot)

3rd level is idk, maybe high alert?, 4th level is definitely between advanced firing training (moar range + more AA range) and demolition expert (HE fires = lol).

Yes you can, and it isn't class restricted like it is in WoT.

Would be nice if they added the auto-return crew feature like in WOT (or is that xvm doing it?).

That's XVM's feature.

I played WoT vanilla a couple days ago and it didn't autotransfer.

What tiers do CAs get AA-powerup-ability? I had activated my ability on my Furutaka when I saw TBs come in, but when I moused over the icon I realised it was hydroacoustic search ability instead..

 Tier 6.

Despite Furutaka having dual-purpose mounts, it can't use the AA ability. Looks like its a tier-locked restriction of tier 6-10.

Yeah it's supposed to be based on the number of DP mounts. Giving the Furu that ability would massively improve it IMO.
