LeoAegisMaximus 39 Share Posted November 18, 2017 I'm just having trouble adjusting to the Bayern' gunnery style, I've had shots completely deviate from center around 5-6km against dds, not used to the over penetration of the shells against soft targets. I don't feel comfortable with the engagement range of 12-14km. I'll probably take some time in the training room to train on the guns. I guess I need a few points and tips on the ship. map381 264 Share Posted November 19, 2017 The entire German BB line has flat, fast, shitty sigma, overpenning shells. It's just a matter of getting used to them.
Psycodiver 101 Share Posted November 19, 2017 I loved the Bayern, that said her shells are quick but lose speed fast so the change from long range aiming and short range can be somewhat different than what your used to. Are you using the stock hull or B hull? Her gun angles change with the upgrade, that said you don't have to worry about getting citadeled anyways if you show to much broadside. I found aiming at where the deck meets the side of the ship a good aim point giving you the best chance to get hits, may not be citadels but the shells tend to give good penetration damage like this. About 10km seems to be her sweet zone, any further you are at the mercy of RNG
LeoAegisMaximus 39 Share Posted November 19, 2017 Ah okay thanks for the tips yeah got a fully upgraded Bayern I didn't know about the difference in the shell velocity until you mentioned it. Yeah your right I didn't like the long range performance of the shells they spend too much time floating back to earth. Yeah I'm not a fan of showing broadside I prefer the wiggle in and wiggle out to get guns on targets. Otherwise do I need to change my aiming point I usually aim for the upper belt on German battleships for the penetration damage is it worth aiming at the waterline belt for other battleship targets? Otherwise love the over match capability of the 15 inch guns when they want to work.
Psycodiver 101 Share Posted November 20, 2017 Belt line works but if I recall the penetration values are pretty lack luster compared to the rest of the T6 ships. Even though I did great in this ship, I can count on 1 hand the amount of 100k+ damage games I had, I always seemed to do around 60-80 regardless of how bad or good the game was, if anything she was very consistent, where as my Fuso and New Mexico could be 40k damage game followed by 130k damage
xWulffx 393 Share Posted December 24, 2017 Did the premium Pan Asian DDs (Anshan Lo Yang) get their normal torps replaced with deep water torps?

DirtyACE7 514 Share Posted September 16, 2018 I'm a new-ish player as I actually started playing in 2015 but then stopped since I was focusing a lot more on WoT. Anyway, I just restarted playing WoWs again and am a bit confused about captains. Is it worth it to start from tier 1 and keep the captain moving up or should I not bother with moving them up until I reach a certain tier? I ask because it looks like it costs quite a lot to keep retraining your captain 250 gold or 200k credits. And if I do have to retrain, which option should I go with? Yes, it's worth it to keep the captain along with your grind. A good baseline captain has at least 3 points and most ships reach a reasonable peek with 10 points, with a few ships really needing a 14 point captain to shine. 11 hours ago, DirtyACE7 said: I ask because it looks like it costs quite a lot to keep retraining your captain 250 gold or 200k credits. And if I do have to retrain, which option should I go with? The one you can afford, to be honest. Assuming you have a premium account and assuming you are a decent player, you can expect to be able to pay for premium consumables and camo easily and still have excess money in the 50k per battle region. This only gets better with according camos and flags, reaching about 100k per battle excess if you do well. DirtyACE7

So is the standard strategy when you start a new line is to dismiss the existing captain who has no skills and recruit one for 25 gold that comes with 3 skills? Yes, I do have a premium account and a couple premium ships (Gullio Cesare and Scharnhorst). I guess I'll use the 200k credit option as I just found out that you can just retrain your captain by putting them on the premium ships without any penalty. I'm a decent player in WoT but in WoWs it seems that I'm very much a potato still.
bathoz 107 Share Posted September 18, 2018 I usually do the 10k credit option for new captains. Those first few skills go very, very quickly. Another reason you'll want to focus on a single captain for a line is that when they reach 19 points, any further XP they earn becomes "Free Captain XP", and can be applied to any captain (including for retraining use).
