So I'm playing a match, getting my typical 60-80 fps I do while off stream.

All of a sudden, FPS drops down to 20, and the dynamic effects change thing turns everything down to minimum (similar to my old screenshots)

Frames keep dropping, end up bottoming out around 5 fps.

I open up my MSI afterburner while in game, apparently I am using the idle (135mhz core/324mhz memory) speeds and under like 24% load? This is compared to normally being ~1300mhz core, 3500mhz memory, and 40% load.

Just having my desktop open (windows 10 aero) uses 13%, so why is the game receiving only a fraction of GPU capacity?

What the fuck is happening to my game?!

Specs:

MSI GTX 970 4GB (3.5 but w/e)

Intel i3-4160 3.6gHz

Acer 1080p screen

8gb ddr3 ram

How is your heat? Nvidia typically does a lot better, but my 295x2 will straight up stop working if it overheats even slightly.

Heat has never been an issue, I have my fan speeds manually set to get fast pretty quickly. I haven't broke 60 C while playing afaik.

Did it perhaps switch your game over to integrated graphics for some reason?

Probably not the reason (especially if it happens in the middle of the game) but those symptoms (no load on GPU while game is running) tend to be caused by that.

It might also just be fuckery with windows 10 not playing nice

That's my only thought, but my DVI output goes straight from the GPU to the monitor. The only stuff I have plugged into the mobo are a couple of USBs and ethernet.

I'd also suspect Windows 10. I have it and yesterday crashed twice in 5 games.

My PC is a potato, but on win7 on lowest settings WoT worked fine(as in no fps drops or anything), on Win10 everything is the same but any kind of foliage, specifically in sniper mode tend to drop fps down to 29-30 which never happened on win7. Seems like win10 issues. I'm not reverting back to win7 because i really like win10 and how it works generally on my PC

deffo Win10 driver or dx issues imo...run dxdiag and see if that gives issues. run 3dmark or something else and see if that gives the same issues...if not then game issue perhaps?.

win10 also has a nasty setting for installing drivers for hardware in windows update by default which can be turned off....where I cannot tell you atm as im at work :( but I would make sure windows update hasnt gone and done that to you

I've had something similar to that happen for several secconds, dropping from 60 to 20. But not the graphics changing.

The biggest issue I have had is artifacting. The game occasionally artifacts all over the place, which is probably a win 10 issue, because it has only started happening after I upgraded.

Yeah yeah wait a few months etc etc, but I wanted my OS on my SSD :P
