Haswell 2,399 Share Posted August 26, 2015 I hate raw DXdiag output... so much stuff that doesn't interest me...Your friend who asked to get the 650Ti should not be let near computers. PhysX is an Nvidia proprietary physics engine used in very few game titles, where the physics calculations can be delegated to the GPU instead of running on the CPU. In games where PhysX aren't used the card is effectively useless, utterly. You can't SLI the cards together either because they are different cards.Your rig isn't old at all, if anything it still works perfectly fine. What I m trying to figure out what you really need, the build you have their under your desk might be sufficient with just 2-3 upgrades. I v got the impression that your current build wasnt exactly tailored to you needs the last time. I am not following, you and Haswell make it sound bad.It's "interesting" because physx is, as Haswell pointed out, a proprietary NVidia technology that is only used by a handful of titles, none of which are on the list of games you say you play. It doesn't hurt anything to use an old gpu that you have lying around as a dedicated physx card, but building a new rig with a card specifically ordered for that purpose is just a waste. There will be some performance increase, but I have no idea how much.Monitors are typically plugged into the card that comes first on the PCI bank (the card closest to the CPU), though you can config this in the drivers I think. SLI will improve performance in games that are optimized for it, but it will open you up to microstutter and other common SLI-related issues. The only reason to run SLI or Crossfire is if you a) need to upgrade on a budget, or b) insist on being at the bleeding edge. If I were in your position with your budget, I'd pick up a current-generation video card (probably the 980 given your resolution and the games you play), get a good 1440p monitor (you can still use your old one(s) as secondary), and probably good SSD if you don't have one already. I am confused, Get 2 of the same cards and SLI them together but WoT isn't optimized for that and I could get yet another problem?Or don't and just upgrade the SSD? A single 670 or 680 would ve made more sense.2) Putting two very old (2 GPU generations) into SLI is nonsense, if you have money to do it the right way. And that's beside the fact that SLI and Crossfire are depend on profiles and even than can be problematic (micro stutters) I suggest the following:- buy a GTX 970 (320$) or 980 (500$)- upgrade you SSD to 512 GB or 1TB (Crucial BX or Samasung 850 Evo) starting around 150$ for 512 GB optional:- take a closer look a widescreen monitors 21:9 (curved in the example below) Link to post Share on other sites

Is this recommended or does it matter?Shfty©You'd be trading performance for convenience. In a perfect world you'd just get a 1TB SSD and have the best of both worlds. If you can't or won't do that, using the SSD as a cache would give you faster performance than just using the HDD (albeit still slower than using the SSD), but you wouldn't have to worry about varying load times on programs and resources. But at least you can be proud of owning a 10k RPM drive.1TB SSD drives already exist, in SATA form too unlike the older expansion card ones. Single Monitor 1440 or betterShfty© If you re a dual monitor kind of guy, I suggest go into an electronic store and take a look at these monitors (27" 1440p or 21:9 ) first, before you buy blind online. I'd go for a solid 1440p (love my Acer Predator), 1tb SSD, and a GTX 980. You could go with a 980ti if you want, but for the games you say you play it's not necessary.
