KV-3 or KV-4 to grind a IS-7 crew?

Hello WoTLabs,

 

I happen to be in a bit of a situation regarding the grind to the mighty IS-7, which is mostly based around the fact that I do not want to move my IS-3 crew (a pretty damn good one) up in the IS-8 and start another 75% crew in the IS-3, not to mention I will need a 2nd Loader for the IS-7 anyhow. Naturally, I also want to keep the IS-3 for when I will eventually get in Skirmishes or Stronkholds or whatever the competitive play at Tier 8 is/will be.

So I started looking around the wikia to look what other RU HTs have a crew composed of 2 Loaders and... the choices aren't the most pleasant, to say the least: either the KV-3 or the KV-4.

Now, I did enjoy the KV-3 - back when I was still a green greenhorn - while the KV-4 literally drove me mad with its inability to kill stuff reliably and its complete inflexibility (sidescrape or bust - or just angle from time to time against Tier 7s). Would also like to improve the stats a bit on either of them (since I feel that I'm more competent now) but 1) I don't know which one of them earns on average more XP, considering their respective tier and 2) the sheer thought of facing Tier 9s in the KV-3 or Tier 10s in the KV-4 feels like a punch in the balls.

Now, if WG would have added by now the XP bonus for tanking damage, the KV-4 would have been a no-brainer... but as it is right now, at least from time to time you can use the 122 D-25T against poor Tier 5 puppies in the KV-3 and pretend you're an IS with its Driver knocked out

Buy a Churchill III and use that instead. Or use the KV-1. Lower tiers are more forgiving of poor crews.

Take KV-2. It's MMproof, pure fun, also has two loaders and you can always put a radioman from another tank if you don't want to train another one.

Buy a Churchill III and use that instead. Or use the KV-1. Lower tiers are more forgiving of poor crews.

Agreed, Plus the lower tier premiums give a higher exp Bonus so if you have accelerate crew training on it will boost it even further.

KV2 and ChurchIII are both good suggestions, so I'll say do both!  They can both be fun, but in completely different ways, so if you have both you can grind your crew no matter what mood you're in

probably just that second part, stalin usually makes up for the crap gun handling

 

anyways I didn't realize the IS-7 needed two loaders so it's a good thing I kept all of my 3-skill KV-2 crew around

the exp bonus at lower tiers is to make up for the lower base, in net most of the tiers should be pretty equal, although the Churchill is the exception to this.

Already have the KV-2 and already went through the painstaking agony of raising a crew from 75% on it, not even now is it "fully functional" (in my opinion) since they only have BIA + Repairs and no aiming skills. Was so glad when I finally dropped the initial Repairs 100%+ and retrained for BIA and got the reload down to the absolute minimum (bar Rations, because KV-2 burns like mofo).

Also, due to its nature, I found the results in the KV-2 to be inconsistent, at best. You can have a 2.5k-3k damage one game, regardless of tier, followed by a whopping 800 damage next game when you're top tier, strictly due to RNG that all of a sudden refuses to pen Hellcats with your HE shells.

Really don't wanna sound like a picky little bitch, but... freemium mode. Not giving another cent to WG until they revise a whole lot of things and stop pandering to the lowest common denominator composed out of Herp, Derp & Lerp.

With that being said, I just remembered I went through the agony of doing the KV-220 Mission one year ago with only the ELC AMX at my disposal... only to have maybe under 50 games in that thing, mostly because the gun is absolute rubbish, even with prem ammo (heaven forbid you come across a Church 7), along with the fact that most of my games were Tier 6 matches on Malinovka Standard... with 3 clickers on each side. Also AFAIK it doesn't have anywhere near the XP earning potential of the Church III.

I brought the crew in my KV-3 up the ranks through the KV-1, T-150, then KV-3.  I like the KV-3 better than the other 2.  With the top gun it does some good damage.  It's tough as nails, also.  Actually got my Ace Tanker in it tonight.  I have a KV-4 and it is total crap until you get the top gun.  Even then, it doesn't do as much damage as the KV-3 does.
