O-I: Derp 2.0 - The Derpening

Guided by the hand of Tojo, this machine takes nearly everything from the KV2 and improves upon it.  

 700 Damage AP (albeit subpar pen)

 910 Damage HE (bottom tier? NBD )

 Sees T4s (AKA Nuclear Holocaust)

 150cm gun that does not require KV2 levels of sacrifices to RNGesus

 T10 Engine (mobility not THAT bad)

 Can fit 2 34-85s inside

 

Arty - High RoF of low tier arty is....unpleasant

 Low-ish HP pool for its size  

 

Played a few games. Going to be a hoot. Will add a more thorough review to this post down the road.

Top tier the armor is so bullshit. You can just yolo at most tanks and they will bounce all day long. I had a hellcat get behind me when I was preoccupied with a t-150 in front of me. he bounced on my ass 3x, then I turned around after raping the t-150 and 1 shot the cat. GG.

So apparently, if you're in a T6 heavy tank that's supposed to be fighting other T6 heavy tanks and meet this, your only chance of penning it is the minuscule 35mm side of the frontal plate, or spamming APCR like crazy. gg wp

I just got this tank. It's a beast but I'm not sure about what to fire in it. I have the derp and a clan mate was saying HE all the time. Tried it for 2 battles and it was crap. Fired a ton of shots and did very little damage per shot. Could have done way more with the AP round. 

Any advice is welcome.

 

Edit: Brain fart on my part. I still had the stock gun on the tank instead of the derp.

The tank is decent, but it suffers in T8 matchups more than I'm comfortable with. It's also deathly slow, reminds me a lot of a Maus. I'm not quite sure if the 150mm is the way to go on this tank; while it's amazing in T6 and some T7 matchups, it cripples you even more in T8 games. The 10cm O-I is already heavily favored in lower tier matchups, so it's hard to say whether the extra oomf (and tool to use against things like hulldown T8s) is worth cutting into your effectiveness when penning isnt an option.

Other than that, yeah, it's very slow coming from the O-I Exp. The armor ranged from mediocre to ludicrous depending on the tier. My first match was me top tier vs a bunch of T5s and a few low pen T6s. I took 30+ hits and only eventually died to 105mm HE spam and an arty.

And this is problem with every tank balanced via armor - Hercules if top and an underdog if bottom. O-I must be super hiper duper OP against IV and many V tier tanks but VI can easily penetrate it (M6 and APCR ftw) and VII with VIII don't ever care about something with 160mm flat armor.
