Type 98 Ke-Ni matchmaking change?

Recommended Posts

As part of 9.10, it looks like the Type 98 Ke-Ni (tier 3 light tank) picked up sheltered matchmaking. I'm not sure if this is going to suddenly make it amazing with that 37mm gun, but part of me wonders if this was meant for the Type 91 Heavy and someone at WG fat-fingered the vehicle ID numbers.

Not only is this not recent, but it's also (potentially) wrong.  I can't present evidence to it at the moment, but on the 9.10 test, I managed to get into a tier 5 battle with a Ke-Ni.  I tried driving the Ke-Ni for a bit because I looked at that same chart and saw it had pref matchmaking, but then my first match happened to be in tier 5.

That chart is from May 22. The Ke-Ni (not the premium one) does not have pref MM. The Ke-Ni Otsu always had pref MM.

What made you think it suddenly got pref MM?

The current chart doesn't reference the "Otsu". Someone at WG's been tampering with the chart, so it was worth checking if they've included the non-premium.

(There's still no MM chart for tier 3 heavies. Keeping track of which vehicles have which matchmaking isn't much of a priority for them.)

The Type 91 has a special entry in the weights chart. It gets 5 MM weight (standard for tier 3 tanks) rather than the 20% heavy bonus. It also appears to see tier 5 games.

I can assure you the file on the wiki isn't tampered with in any way (why would anyone want to mess with it?). After all, I keep track of everything there. T3 heavies are completely new, will have to wait til the top give me new numbers.

Are you allowed to update the wiki with new information (eg. experimentally derived, or read from game data files), or are you only allowed to use officially provided information?

Both, as long as sources are reliable (would prefer citations, but nobody ever does that). It's not like anyone in the WG offices actually read what's on there (or care anyway).

Ok, you may want to fill out the section on individual tank MM weights, as it's a few years out of date. The data's actually in the client files, and I've verified it experimentally by processing large replay batches. This is the raw data:

Note that 8% SPG multiplier. It's a much shorter list if you adjust the Weight by vehicle type list as follows:

  • All SPGs receive 8% extra weight.
  • Tier 8, 9, and 10 medium tanks receive 20% extra weight.
  • Tier 5, 6, 7 and 8 light tanks receive 20% extra weight.

There's only one tier 5 light tank (Crusader) that doesn't get the extra 20%, and three tier 8 medium tanks (Panther II, Centurion I, T-44).

Using these rules, the following currently-available tanks remain as exceptions:

Low tier specials: Pz 38H @ 7.0, Type 91 @ 5.0, Crusader @ 12.0.
Tier 5 tanks @ 14.4: Chi Nu Kai, SU-85I, Pz IV Hydro, Pz Sfl IVc.
Tier 6 tanks @ 21.6: Jumbo Sherman, A43, VK3002M, Nashorn, Pz V/IV (both), Chi To, Achilles, Firefly.
Tier 7 tanks @ 32.4: Comet, AT 15A, VK3002D, A44, Sturer Emil, Chi Ri, T23E3, T28 concept, Challenger.
Tier 8 tanks @ 40: Centurion I, Panther II, T-44.
