Is-8 HD remodel

Hi, I've been a lurker here for a while. I'll start shitpoasting sooner or later so here's something from Rita: http://ritastatusreport.blogspot.hk/2015/09/hd-screenshots-is-8-and-t56-gmc.html

As you can see, aside from the fancy optics, the tank looks quite a bit shorter as though it got deflated somehow. The turret also got flattened and lost its turret ring weakspot. It actually looks like a Russian hovermed now, instead of a bloated abomination. I checked the new screenshots against tankinspector: it seems the frontal pike has a much better slope now, though it might be too early to tell.

Another interesting tweak are the splashboards in front of the pike which make it deceptively like a WZ-111. They were there in the old model but mounted differently and not as part of the damage model. Again, might be a way to give the -8 a stealth buff.

It seems they used the T-10 turret and not the T-10M one, which seems kind of pointless, seeing as the T-10M was supposed to be the modernised tank.

it wouldn't be WG if they didn't buff the is-8 with the HD model  .... after all, it's significantly less stellar than the WZ111 1-4 right now - that'sa scandal! Preposterous!

I don't notice a huge difference between the HD turret and the SD one. Not that it really matter since not a T-10Ms got the new turret:

WarThunder IS-8 has a 200 effective lower plate, 240-250 effective upper plate, and 250mm turret.

WoT IS-8 has a 170 effective lower plate, 220-230 upper, and 201mm turret.

Wz-111111111-4 with 2300 hp would alrdy make 113 obsolete, heck, nerf 113 hp to 1800, small rof nerf, and its a good tier 9 tank, its that bad...

Although this is getting a wee bit offtopic, for the 113, there are two things that can excavate it from the deep pit of mediocrity help, either give it a manageable (i.e. >230) lower plate and actual angled spaced armor sides, or buff its gun to 215b levels with the same RoF.

Will be interesting to see if my Conq will continue to shit on the IS-8... 

The HD looks so much better and the angling on the UFP looks better, but it looks like the IS-8 got shorter which can actually lower the effective armor on it in closer engagements, but might make the armor more relevant the farther the tank is. I honestly don't know, I just hope WG doesn't screw it up. (knowing their record)

IS-8 getting renamed to the T-10.

 

Fun Fact: When Stalin died, the IS-8 designation was changed to T-10 because it was the tenth heavy tank ever produced by the USSR.

Im hoping for some armor buff, both the ufp and lfp are too soft, Wz-111111 is faster as IS8 and has a gun better suited for the role of these tanks, yolo and brawl, and there alpha dmg beats some tiny accuracy and aim time advantage

So IS8 should get the armor advantage, buffing the turret is tricky, while not very hard, due to shape it becomes very fast bs armor, i mean IS3 turret is thougher as an T32 (or almost any other bare IS7), the paper roof is the only weakspot, but the rest is +300 with only near the gun mantle some small 260mm thick places, an IS8 would be even thougher, since the roof is less pronounced, harder to hit, and thougher....
