[WoWs]Aim assist is back. RIP?

Recommended Posts

Uh... huh

I have no words.

Since some of you guys had no qualms about DLing this the last time it popped up in 0.3.X, I mind as well make you guys aware that it resurfaced ~3 days ago.

video of it in action in a co-op(?) battle

I know how to lead targets in this game, but I still have to go through the motions.  I have to do quick rough calculations and guesstimate (wow spell checker says this is a real word now, rip English).  This takes away all of that, hit x, aim for the circle and boom headshot (maybe make SMALL adjustments).  There is no excuse for wargaming's reaction to this.  I am saddened to see it exist and I am saddened by players in this forum who had no problems about using it.

Well, as Dues said (he used it), "if it's available for everyone as a tool why not use it?"

I didn't explicitly post the DL link for my own reasons, but it's really easy to find it if people here are that inclined.

This was always WoWS's weakness.

Would I use it?  Probably not, I enjoy attempting to hit DDs from 20kms away in BBs.

Once you get up close it's useless but for those medium range encounters and someone's constantly hitting, time to bring out the cheat accusations.  Add in an XVM ship model and all your pre-destined losses have a ready made excuse.

Why bother with it? a smart DD player will still be able to avoid shells from range, and by this point, anyone decent at the game can successfully lead without it. I see no reason to use it.

lol... pubbies have to manually set it up?  Most likely the tomatoes will set it up wrong so they'll be firing even less accurately.  Looks like he's working on an auto setup so it's only a matter of time before it'll work for them.  It would seem that he just needs someone to set the values for all shells.

I can aim pretty good anyways, will not use. The game would, for me, get incredibly boring with this... WoWs , shoot the dot simulator 2015.

You can also use this to your advantage, just like the torp aim helper, sail in strait line till you see they shoot, move right after.

Fuck you, ballistic computers were developed for a reason.

So were chains of command and a whole bunch of other stuff that would make the game suck. That is a stupid excuse.

If I can tall you exactly where I need to put a shell given distance, bearing, rate of change, etc, why shouldn't I be allowed to make use of that knowledge?

Because we actually want to have a game to play? Do you want one where you do nothing but plot waypoints and designate targets?

Sounds like you want an RTS.  Not an FPS.

You're both taking it to extremes. Its kind of dumb.

Na, that was the half baked realism argument...

Disagree, please defend your position in this argument, using the game and not "historical accuracy".

An RTS, the computer figures out all the little combat actions.  You just plot your moves, set your actions and go.  Yes you can micro manage your units, but at the core of things, the AI figures out the actual combat.  No aiming, no minutiae.  I feel like you want a tactical single unit RTS.  Very similar to say Star Fleet Academy/Command.  A game where you issue the command to fire, even directing aiming at certain subsystems/weakspots, you direct your ship's resources and plot its course (ignore the actual game plot, I am talking about the combat aspect).  But it is NOT an FPS.

Its not as if linear approximations will allow me to hit moving, juking targets with 100% accuracy. I'm still going to have to account for acceleration. Just now I don't have to continuously fail to do so because of my inability to produce approximations above the first power. I'll have a point of reference to work b in order to make up for it.

Just out of curiosity, have you used mods like this in tanks?  Are you for or against their existence there?  Would you prefer it if this was built into tanks?
