dualmaster333 3,324 Share Posted October 27, 2015 I enjoyed Rexxie's garage review and it seems many other people did as well so I decided to do the same. I like variety in this game - I rarely stick to the same tier or tank for more than a few games. I like to play everything from tier 5 up to 10 (with 10 being my least favorite) and as such I keep a decent number of tanks spanning all those tiers. I also particularly enjoy light tanks so there are plenty of those. There is over 80 tanks listed here along with my opinions of them. I arranged them by match making bracket so feel free to skip around. As a separate ranking, I will include a simple measure of how much I "like" a tank. This is a subjective measure based on whether or not I enjoy playing it, independent of how "good" it actually is. The scale is: <3 - I rarely take it out of the garage because I either don't enjoy it or there is a tank of similar playstyle that is just plain better. <3<3 - Most of the tanks in my garage will get two hearts. I may not play them a ton but I do enjoy taking them out of the garage from time to time. <3<3<3 - These are tanks I really enjoy. Even if I don't play them tons, I find them unique or particularly fun to drive. Tier 5 Light M24 Chaffee Although it is a severely nerfed version of its former self, this tank still works well with the greatly improved matchmaking. It is superbly comfortable - it drives well, the gun handles well, and you have big view range and camo at a tier where most of your opponents don't. Only drawback is a poor AP round that will make you want to spam APCR. 7/10 <3<3<3 ELC Incredibly tiny, insane camo, unreasonably fast, and a monster gun. It's one of the few tanks I can still solo past 70% win rate. Alright, the gun handling really, really sucks and will drive you a little mad. But in exchange you get some nasty alpha and an APCR round that shreds anything you will see. The camo is so broken that you will find yourself firing at tanks from less than 300 meters and not getting spotted. Best of all, it will GO FAST! 8.5/10 <3<3 Tier 5 Pref MM T14 This tank taught me all about angles - back in the day before gold rounds this tank lived or died by good angling. These days it is still a fairly effective tank. A good turret and gun depression makes hull down pretty effective and the hull can still be angled in a way to make you pretty survivable. The gun is good enough to get things done (although the penetration is a little weak). Unfortunately your armor and gun fall off pretty severely against many tier 6 guns. 105mm HE rounds are also painful since your actual armor thickness is not that great. A nice crew trainer. 7/10 <3<3 Churchill III Pew pew waddle waddle pew pew! This tank is pretty fat and slow and will sometimes make you fall asleep on your way to the fight. The armor is mediocre - the hull is solid, but the large flat face of your turret is only 88mm thick and is usually pointed square at the enemy. However, you get a pretty decent high DPM gun with APCR rounds that will keep you relevant against tier 6 tanks. Overall it works well. Another solid crew trainer. 7.5/10 <3<3 Excelsior I honestly haven't played this tank much. It shares a similar gun to the T14 but relies on thicker, flat plates for protection. Pretty similar in overall capability to the T14 from what I can tell, I just happen to train US heavy crews more than UK ones. 7/10? <3 Matilda IV I always thought the Matilda was an interesting looking tank. It also has some fun traits - decent all around armor, an insane 14 degrees of gun depression, and good gun handling. Sadly, it is super slow and the gun penetration sucks hard even with APCR. Add that the proliferation of gold rounds even at this tier and it negates a lot of the armor advantage and you are left with a pretty mediocre tank. 3/10 <3 Tier 5 T1HT This tank is often underrated. It's a bit fat and a bit soft, but you get a fairly mobile chassis and a gun that works well at this tier all with AmericanComfortTM gun handling and depression. Plus every once in a while you get to teach someone what 60 tons of awesome at 35 kph feels like. 6/10 <3<3 Ram II I remember fighting Tiger 2's with this tank.....BEFORE gold rounds were a thing. This tank has been buffed significantly to the point where it is now solidly okay-ish. You get a fast firing gun with solid DPM and some good APCR, but the gun handling leaves a lot to be desired - you end up missing a lot of shots which means your effective DPM is much worse. The tank feels a little sluggish (compared to an M4 for example) but also carries enough armor that you can get a fair number of bounces off lower tier guns. Probably the most common tier 5 tank for me to take out of the garage - primarily because it trains US medium crews. I recently 3 marked this tank and was running cola and a good crew - 1.81 second reload was pretty fun! 5/10 <3<3 StugIV This is the reward tank for the missions. I was never a huge fan of the Stug and this is just a worse version. I haven't played this enough to comment though. ?/10 <3 Chi Nu Kai This is a pretty mediocre tank. No armor to speak of, yet it still manages to be sluggish to drive. The gun is decent and has enough punch to handle most of what you see. It doesn't even get sheltered MM. I don't mind taking this one out once in a while to train my STB crew; it's still a terd though. 3/10 <3 T-25 Another tank I've had for a long time, I've trained multiple new crews on this. It's a fairly fast tank in a straight line but doesn't turn particularly well. The armor is garbage, the turret traverse is noticeably slow, and the gun handling is abysmal. Otherwise the gun is solid - if they buffed the handling I would play this a lot more. 4/10 <3 Tier 6 Lights 12t Once a tier 5 tank, this is now a tier 6. They should have left it at tier 5. The good: you get a 6 round autoloader with good intraclip reload, good alpha, and best in class penetration. You also have best in class camo rating. Everything else about this tank is bad. It is painfully sluggish for a light tank. The gun handling is horrendous. And perhaps the most frustrating is is only 4° of gun depression and at best 12° of gun elevation (only when looking forward - the rear facing 180° only gets 4° of elevation). Uneven land is a huge pain in the neck for this tank. This will be sold once I 3 mark it. 2/10 <3 59-16 This tank has a great chassis - fast, nimble, small profile, good camo. It's autoloader in unique - 1.33 second intraclip, sub-8 second drum reload, for 5 shots at 115 alpha. It can spike hard, fast, and often. In theory. The great weakness is garbage penetration (even with APCR) that will bounce far too often combined with mediocre gun handling that will miss far too often. The penetration is so bad that you will often run into tanks you simply can't damage (KV/IS tanks are miserable). Running the 57mm helps you put out consistent damage, but then you are just a worse MT-25. The tank is fun when you sneak up on a soft target and murder him, but I get frustrated by the inability to carry some games because you simply can't kill the tanks you need to. This will also be sold as soon as I 3 mark it. 3/10 (some fun potential to be had with the autoloader) <3 MT-25 I recently 3 marked this tank. It's not particularly strong, but it is pretty fun to drive. It's small-ish, it's nimble, it has enough armor to get some surprising bounces. The 57mm is a bit weak at this tier but it works alright on this platform. I probably won't keep this but it was fun to play through again. 4/10 <3 Type 64 The "must have" tank for fastbois, the Type is also a solid pub tank. Good speed, view range, and camo let you do the light tank scouting/flexing thing well. The 76mm gun works pretty well with a good combination of alpha, DPM, and penetration (along with good gun handling!). It also trains Chinese light crews and makes good credits as well! 6.5/10 <3<3 T21 (sold recently) This isn't in my garage, but I did 3 mark it not too long ago. It is very similar to the Type 64 - slightly improved gun handling, slightly better acceleration, but otherwise barely distinguishable. I give the Type 64 a slight edge over this tank because the higher top speed does matter at times. A solid light tank, but not worth keeping a crew on it when I have a Type 64. 6/10 <3 T37 Still the king of tier 6 lights, this tank has "pretty good" everything. It even gets an improved 76mm with very good penetration. Fun pub tank and will still dominate any tier 6 campaigns. 7/10 <3<3<3 Tier 6 PrefMM TogII Picked this up purely for giggles. It is bad, but in a good way. The only way to play this is in a triple TOG platoon. It murders everything it sees at the cost of everything being able to run away from you. 2/10 (4/10 giggle potential in a platoon) <3 Tier 6 M4A3E8 The classic Easy 8, still a solid medium today. It drives nice, the gun handles well, 12° of gun depression, and a rapid firing 76mm. It is classic AmericanComfortTM. This mostly acts as a new crew trainer for me....although I've mostly run out of US tanks that need crews so this one has stuck around for a while. Still a fun tank to play. 6/10 <3<3 Fury A strictly worse Easy 8. You lose gun depression and it is noticeably more sluggish. The only benefit is training up my many US medium crews. 5/10 <3<3 Cromwell I love it! No wait I hate it. Alright, a little of both. The great pitfall of this tank is the abysmal gun handling. The bloom will make you cry as you sit there and wait for the circle to shrink. However, everything else about the tank is good - it's fast, agile, fairly stealthy, and apart from the handling the gun is great. This used to be a great camo/vision abuse tank so current map design has definitely hurt it, but it is still capable enough to be one of the best tier 6 tanks. 7/10 <3<3 M6 Alright, it's a little pudgy and it doesn't have much armor to speak of, by my goodness that gun is beautiful. The ability to fire 243 penetration APCR means that you are ALWAYS relevant. Load your credits in the barrel and bask in the glory of those IS-6s yelling "GOLD SPAM NOOB." This has always been a favorite tank of mine - it can be a monster as top tier and scales into higher tiers better than most tanks. Your armor is not great, but good gun handling and gun depression let you avoid getting shot better than other heavies at this tier. 7/10 <3<3<3 ARL 44 I had an extra french crew lying around and decided to get this tank back in the garage. I never played it with the gold spam 105mm. I haven't had tons of games in it to evaluate it properly. The armor seems pretty weak and the gun handling is bad - it doesn't feel like the murder machine it was made out to be, but I'll have to give it some more games to get a better feel. 330 alpha is a pretty good time though... 5/10 <3 KV-2 Purely for giggles. This tank is pretty bad overall, but deleting a tank every 20 seconds is pretty amusing. I scraped together a junk crew just so I could roll this out every once in a while. 3/10 <3 SU-100Y Bought this on a whim. It's pretty bad overall. The high alpha for the tier is amusing if you can actually hit anything. Gun handling is bad, accuracy is bad, armor is bad. The gun will troll you as often as it trolls the bad guy. If I sold premium tanks, this would be one of the first to go. 2/10 <3 M44 I picked this up for missions. Uh...yeah.....just for missions.... This arty is an unreasonable murder machine. A 240 penetration HEAT shell that does 700 damage and fires every 18 seconds means you can absoletly massacre anything you will see - provided your RNG is working. Like all arty, in one third of games the M44 will miss every shot, in one third of games you will hit a few good ones, and in the last third you will teach low tier pubbies the meaning of an orbital death cannon. Oh yeah, it's pretty mobile, has a huge gun arc, and is reasonably accurate if you can stay close to the fight. A shining example of game balance! -7/10 (Arty is rated on a negative scale with -10 being the best) <3<3 Tier 7 Lights M41 Bulldog I'm still sad they destroyed the single fire gun on this tank. The superb gun handling and depression made it incredibly fun to play and the reload was still fast enough to make it a solid alternative to the autoloader. Being able to switch back and forth between the two let me change the flavor of the tank and helped make it one of the most enjoyable tanks in the game. Now it is much more one dimensional. You suck WG. Tears aside, this is still a capable light tank. It drives like a dream and has some good firepower to back it up. If you can get in a good position with a full clip it is fun to watch their hit points melt away. The biggest problem with this tank now is the long drum reload is less flexible and leaves you with long down times. 7/10 <3<3 T71 I haven't played this since its appearance got nerfed. You suck WG. However, the tank is solid. After the gun handling buffs it received in 9.6 I found it to be on par with the M41. The smaller clip is actually an asset as it provides you with more flexibility and less down time. 7/10 <3<3 Type 62 Rest in pieces, Type 62. This used to be a good tank, but got triple nerfed with no compensation. They changed the HEAT mechanics, nerfed the actual HEAT pen value, then made the HEAT round cost more than their equivalent rounds on the WZ-131/132. After a long period of being terrible, it received a buff a few patches back that made it still mostly terrible. As Rexxie points out, it is a stricly worse WZ-131 with absolutely no flavor. The gun penetration is lousy - the AP is very poor and the HEAT is too low to be effective (seriously WG, give it the old 250 HEAT pen). It doesn't even make very good credits because of the expensive HEAT rounds. I'm still gonna 3 mark the turd on of these days though. 3/10 <3 Tier 7 PrefMM T23E3 I wasn't around during the days of the fabled T23, so this is the only version I've ever known. This tank is receiving a significant buff to the penetration next patch which is a very welcome change. It will at least give you a chance against the Is-3s/6s of the world. The tank is pretty sluggish but everything else about it is pretty comfortable - good gun depression and handling and the improved 76mm should be pretty effective. Enough to be a decent crew trainer if you have an American medium addiction like me. 5/10 (with the coming penetration buff) <3 Panther/M10 I won this stupid tank from some tournament. It's actually not bad - sheltered tier 7 matchmaking is pretty nice. This tank has plenty of hit points and enough armor to bounce some of the lower tier guns from time to time. The gun is not exceptional but works pretty well giving you reasonable firepower. Everything else about the tank is mediocre. It's certainly not good, but I still enjoy taking it out from time to time. <3 4/10 E-25 This tank was so OP that WG removed it from the store (and then gave it out for free to everyone on the NA server). Did you know this thing has almost 9% camo while firing? There are so many good points about this tank - it has excellent speed, a low profile, superb camo, delightful gun handling, and high DPM. Its weaknesses have always been the limitations of a casemate TD and gun penetration that will struggle against some of the tanks you see. Its power has also declined with current map design and the endless Agent Orange campaign. However, it still has enough tools to carry games and enjoys the pleasant tier 7 sheltered matchmaking. 8/10 <3<3 Tier 7 T20 This is considered by most to be the best tier 7 medium tank and I'm inclined to agree. The hilight is the glorious American 90mm with totally balanced APCR rounds that keep you relevant even in tier 9 matches. The alpha is solid although the rate of fire is pretty low (avoid getting into a DPM war because you will lose even to lower tier tanks). Cons: the chassis doesn't turn well, the gun can be a little derpy at times, and your armor is non-existant. However, it has enough camo, gun depression, and speed to keep out of harm's way and punish anyone who tries to get close. 7/10 <3 Comet Probably the second best tier 7 medium, I actually prefer this tank over the T20. It is pretty good at everything. It has plenty of speed to get around the battlefield. The view range and camo are good enough to do vision control. The gun handling and gun depression let you use terrain to minimize exposure. Good DPM and reasonable penetration lets you dish out the hurt (especially when you get those nice flanks). Similar to the T20, the tank is pretty soft overall and you still want to avoid DPM wars. I remember when I first started playing this tank I would get mad because running head first into an Easy 8 meant I would lose most of my hit points. I had to learn to position myself to avoid such encounters and that is when the tank began to shine. 7/10 <3<3 T29 The age-old tier 7 monster, one of the great padder tanks, this thing still remains a beast today. The beefy turret and good gun depression makes this a hull down monster that even tier 9 tanks will struggle with. Hills are always your friend, but even on flat maps this tank isn't outclassed. The gun is punchy (I still prefer the 105mm) and handles well. Now if they can just make it HD and give it a T32-style buff we can be properly OP! 9/10 <3<3<3 T28Concept I haven't played this much since I got it. It's pretty slow, the armor is decent if people don't know to shoot your boobies, the gun is decent but falls off against higher tiers. It suffers the same problem as every other slow casemate TD in not being able to flex as well. The crazy gun arc is pretty unique, though, and the tank is good enough that I still take it out once in a while for some flavor. 4/10 <3 SU-122-44 The other premium TD that survived the camo nerfs, the SU-122-44 has always been borderline OP. High alpha, high rate of fire and a chassis that enjoys nearly medium tank levels of mobility, it's hard to go wrong. I haven't actually played this thing in a while so I can't comment on how it fairs these days, but I would guess it is still strong. 7/10 <3 GWPanther Picked this up purely for arty missions and now it will likely rot away in my garage. It's a pretty solid arty overall - decently mobile, a partial turret, decent combination of alpha and rate of fire, and a good HEAT round if you want to troll people. -6/10 <3 Tier 8 Lights T49 Alright, in a pure power ranking this is definitely the worst of the tier 8 lights, but it really isn't that far behind. The biggest problem is that it relies on arty levels of RNG, so some games you will simply get trolled and miss those fully aimed shots from 50 meters. But then you'll get those hail mary 500 meter shots that HE pen the engine deck and light the enemy on fire. This tank has the highest laughter-to-game ratio of all internet tanks. As for the tank itself, though, it is nimble, has good enough camo and view range, and (sometimes!) packs a punch. If you enjoy shouting "Suprise motherf*****r!" I recommend getting a T49. 6/10 <3<3<3 RU251 Not as popular as it once was prior to the T-54LT getting buffed, this is still a capable tier 8 light tank. For those going up the German light tank line it was nice to finally have good camo. The tank is fast and has nice DPM with a punchy 90mm. The gun can be a little derpy due to higher dispersion values (and high speeds that cause more severe bloom). Some people also complain about the low velocity AP round - it certainly takes some getting used to. However, the AP has decent penetration and the HEAT round helps you deal with some of the harder targets (and the higher velocity makes it easier to hit stuff at range). The addition to a higher pen HE round allows for some fun against other light tanks or waffles. Overall a solid light tank that I still enjoy playing. 7/10 <3<3 AMX 1390 Can you believe this thing used to be a tier 7? Of all the tier 8 lights, this tank is most dependent on gold spam. With the standard AP shell this tank is medicore at best. With APCR it becomes a dangerous assassin. Unfortunately, the gun handling is complete balls. I personally find the tank painful to play because of that. You either have to be super close to your target or sit still and aim down for a while to consistently hit anything. Despite it having a lot of damage in a clip, I rarely ever hit all my shots to the damage potential is somewhat misleading. 6.5/10 <3 T54LT Iteration 73 of the T-54 in WOT. Take a light tank, keep the speed and mobility, give it some legit armor, and mount a good handling gun with a nice APCR round. Oh it happens to be russian? How terrible. This is probably the best tier 8 light, although it is not my favorite to play. I guess I've played too many Russian wedges. I really only keep it around because it is central to any tier 8 competitive play right now. For pubbing I'll usually take a different tank. 7/10 <3 WZ-132 The best scout of all the tier 8 lights. The WZ is just pleasant to drive - good acceleration, good speed, good camo and view range. I also like that you have a choice of guns - both the 85mm and 100mm are viable these days and provide slightly different flavor. I really wish WG would do that more often! I personally prefer running the 85mm as it provides a rapid firing gun with superb handling. It reminds me of the old day with the Chaffee - just auto aim aim at any distance and hold down the mouse button while driving like a madman! This remains my favorite of the Tier 8 lights. 7/10 <3<3<3 Tier 8 PrefMM Super Pershing I originally bought this tank on a discount, then sold it for full price. Then I purchased it again at a discount a little while before WG buffed the armor this most recent time. In its current state, the Super Pershing is a pretty strong tier 8 premium. Frontally, it is a nightmare to deal with; the weak points are small and the rest of the armor is very strong. Constant movement will further decrease the amount of damage you take. This is probably one of the toughest premiums out there now. The gun is solid; it handles well and has a fantastic APCR round. Not all is warm and happy though - the tank is a little slow, DPM is not great, penetration on the AP round isn't stellar, and anywhere other than your front is very soft. You'll find yourself wanting to fire lots of APCR which will cut into potential profits quickly. Overall, it's a solid tank and good crew trainer. Throw it into a platoon so you don't have to worry about flexing as much and you'll be free to dominate your flank. 7.5/10 <3<3 Type 59 The fabled Type 59, tank of legend, object of envy, OP OP OP! I never got to play this tank in its heyday; I won it during the last clan invitational and haven't actually played it all that much. The armor is superb for a medium - the turret will block almost anything and the hull armor can be angled to provide almost 175mm effective. This makes it a giant bully tank for lower tier tanks (lol tier 6 mediums) and pretty effective against the large number of ~175 pen guns you will run into (Russian 122s, etc). However, many will load gold rounds when they see a Type 59 now so the armor is somewhat less effective. The gun is nothing fantastic - the handling is mediocre (average dispersion values with poor base accuracy and a long aim time), the DPM is low for a 100 mm. The bad gun handling is a personal pet peeve that makes me not play this too often, but I probably just need to spend some time getting used to it. Overall, the Type is still a strong tier 8 pref tank due to great armor, solid mobility, and enough firepower to get the job done. 8/10 <3<3 FCM 50t The 50t is a medium that is classified as a heavy but doesn't do either role particularly well. The best part is the gun; the AP round is good enough that you will rarely need to fire APCR. This makes it a pretty solid credit earner. The gun handling leaves a little to be desired - it isn't terrible, but it would be nice to see it improved slightly when the tank doesn't have much else going for it. The Chassis is terrible; you are large and soft. Arty loves to see you...which is easy because your camo is almost non-existant. This tank lacks the tools to be a good solo pubber, but does alright in a platoon with IS-6s/KV-5s/etc where it can provide some flex. 4/10 <3<3 KV-5 The Great Russian Bear, 100 tons of angry Soviet steel, the tank equivalent of a caveman who carries a big club and subdues his opponents with blunt force trauma. The KV-5 remains a powerful brute. It has thick metalall around and with a bit of angling much of your tank becomes invulnerable to enemy shots. People often complain about the well known weak points. While it is an issue, you can cause a lot of misses/bounces by turning your tank 45° to the enemy and moving forward and back continuously. Lots of people will waste time trying to aim their shot on your R2D2 or simply miss and bounced off your stronger armor around it. Add a massive hit point pool to the general hardiness and the KV-5 becomes one of the more survivable tanks in the game. The gun has a lackluster AP round (you'll need a decent chunk of APCR to fight IS-6/IS-3s effectively) but it has brutal DPM. The KV-5 is a true brawler - few tanks can stand head to head with it and survive. Warning: KV-5 radio operators have been known to commit suicide at the start of a battle since they know they will be dead soon anyways. 8/10 <3<3<3 112 I won this tank during one of the mini campaigns and eventually went up the Chinese heavy line so I would have a crew to play it. The armor is decent; the upper plate and turret are very tough and will bounce most of the guns you will run into. The lower plate is very soft (tier 6 guns will pen it) and unfortunately everyone seems to know it. Get hull down if at all possible. The side armor isn't great, but you can still play corners somewhat effectively. The firepower is acceptable; while the gun handling is bad and a HEAT premium round is unreliable, the 390 alpha is great and the 250 penetration on the HEAT round gives you a chance against some of the more armored targets like E-75s. Overall the tank is pretty similar to an IS-6 but a little worse. 6/10 <3 Tier 8 Pershing The best of the tier 8 mediums (although they're all fairly weak to begin with). The Pershing is a good all around tank. Its speed and acceleration are decent. It carries the familiar US 90mm gun with a high penetration APCR round that will punch through most tier 10 tanks with ease. The DPM is a little low but the gun handling is quite good so your effective DPM is still good. The gun mantlet is large and superbly armored (it can bounce tier 10 guns). With the good gun handling and a full 10° of gun depression the Pershing can play hull down very effectively; just pop up long enough to get a shot off, back down on reload, and your mantlet will block a large number of incoming shots. The M26 also has decent camo and good view range so you can still play the vision game when needed. This tank is a personal favorite since it fits on of my favorite playstyles! 7/10 <3<3<3 T69 This tank was blatantly OP when it was released. After numerous nerfs, it is now just an average tank. It's strength comes from a 4 round, 240 alpha autoloader with a 2 second intraclip reload and a drum reload of 24-25 seconds. It only takes 6 seconds to drop nearly 1000 damage. The drum reload is, in my mind, about the ideal clip time for an autoloader; it provides a lot of flexibility and reduced down time. The AP round is pretty bad and only effective against soft tanks or lower tiers. The T69 benefits significantly from heavy HEAT usage, but 250 pen HEAT is rather unreliable. Everything else about the T69 is mediocre but adequate. The autoloader is unique and enjoyable enough that I still like taking this tank out from time to time, but the tank itself isn't that great. 5/10 <3<3 T32 The hull down monster. The T32's turret is the highlight of the tank. Combined with 10° gun depression, few tanks can play hilly terrain more effectively. When this tank went HD it also received a buff to the frontal hull armor which made it even tougher. The gun provides 320 alpha with decent handling, but the weakest point is the penetration. 198 AP/245 APCR leaves a lot to be desired when fighting against higher tier opponents. A solid tank overall and generally enjoyable to play. 7/10 <3<3 T34 The T34 is pretty bad. The tank is sluggish and the hull is soft making you great arty bait. The frontal turret armor is relatively strong but the cupola is on the larger side and gets sniped quite a bit. There's also a substantial region of 38mm armor on the roof that can be overmatched by 120mm+ guns from the front. Your DPM is terrible and gun handling is atrocious. The only good news is that your can penetrate anything you see and most of it with your AP round thus making it a decent credit earner. All that said, there's still something I enjoy about this tank. I guess it is the hull down style (10° gun depression) along with the ability to hurt anything you run in to. It's definitely tougher to play than other premiums as it requires good positioning to be effective. But it is still bad. 3/10 <3<3 IS-3 The IS-3 has always been strong....and then it got buffed with the HD model. The armor is all around tough. The pike nose will stop most lower tier guns and with some good wiggling can cause even higher pen guns to bounce. The turret face is very strong although you have to be careful about the turret roof which is easily penned at close range. The side armor will troll everything but particularly the HEAT rounds that become more common at this tier. Mobility is surprisingly good for a heavy tank and it lets you flex around the battlefield as needed. The BL-9 is an excellent gun full of Russian bias. Despite the gun handling stats being fairly poor, this gun just seems to land on target consistently. Good penetration on the AP and APCR rounds help it to scale better into higher tiers than other tier 8s. This is probably the best tier 8 tank. 8/10 <3 50 100 The autoloader on this tank carries an 1800 damage clip with high penetration. This makes the 50 100 a highly effective assassin, able to clip out most same tier tanks from full health and do similar to even partially damage tier 10s. Add medium tank levels of mobility and it can be effective even as a flanker/flexer. Of course, you lack any armor, but who cares when you can choose fights where you trade maybe one hit for their entire hit point pool. The biggest issue with this tank is the 45+ second drum reload during which you are completely useless. This limits your flexibility and destroys any ability to hold a position. The 50 100 benefits quite a bit from platooning with more durable tanks. Something like an IS-3 can provide the staying power on the flank while the 50 100 clips a bitch and then reloads. 7.5/10 <3<3 M40/43 (No longer in garage) I just sold this recently after finishing the grind. I did not find this to be an impressive arty. The reload is a bit too long, the accuracy is a bit too poor, the handling is mediocre-to-bad. The only thing it really has going for it is massive alpha and good splash. Also, the shell arc is a little flat, so missing a direct hit on a tank means the shell usually flies pretty far off target. Firing exclusively gold rounds will help quite a bit. Definitely didn't like this enough to keep it. -4/10 <3 Tier 9 E-50 The E-50 has a lot going for it. It has decent mobility although it can feel a bit sluggish at times. It carries some substantial armor - the upper plate is tough and the side armor is sufficient to play corners against most tanks. It's not something you want to rely on, but it is sufficient to generate bounces when needed. Just don't expect your turret or lower plate to stop anything consistently. The gun is particularly good; great handling, impressive accuracy, solid penetration. Firing heavy APCR converts this into a slightly slower version of the E-50M although it isn't necessary most of the time. Get one of these ASAP if you have dreams of being a padder. 8.5/10 <3<3 M46 Patton Bias warning: this is my favorite tank in the game. It is pure AmericanComfortTM. Leave the whole armor thing to the communists and fascists. Instead, let's build a tank around the goal of not getting hit while killing everything. The Patton boasts the best DPM in class while maintaing good alpha. Minimizing exposure is easy with 10° of gun depression and fantastic gun handling. Pop your turret over that hill, shoot, and duck back down before the bad guys shoot back at you. It's not the fastest medium tank, but it accelerates very well and is very comfortable to drive. Alright, it's not all a bed of roses. The base accuracy isn't as good as some competitors, so you will miss more shots at range than something like an E-50. You also have no usable armor so careful positioning becomes critical to avoid getting in a head to head fight. Also worth mentioning is 410 view range with decent camo values allows this tank to do true vision control. 8.5/10 <3<3<3 T54E1 The big brother of the T69, the T54E1 gets a big upgrade in firepower. Four 105mm rounds in a drum give you almost 1600 burst damage in 6.7 seconds. It spikes hard and fast. Drum reload is on the longer side at 32-35 seconds so you need to be careful to have a plan after you empty your clip. The AP round is workable but firing full APCR really makes this tank shine. Gun handling is poor and base accuracy is bad. Running this tank will full crew skills (BIA+Vents+Cola) really helps to hit all your shots. Dumping your clip from close range is also preferred. The mobility is sufficent to get around and clip out the tanks that need to die. This tank is a better pubber than most autoloaders. 8/10 <3<3 T-55A YOU JELLY?? The T-55A is a very modest modification of the T-54. It receives improved gun handling at the cost of armor and some speed. Specifically, the upper plate is only 100mm on the T-55A instead of 120mm. This significantly reduces your protection against lower tier guns to the point where you can't bully lower tiers as effectively. The T-55A is still an enjoyable soviet wedge. It's reasonably well armored all around and has decent hull down capability with a solid turret (although the turret is much worse than it use to be). The gun provides good DPM and 300 pen HEAT rounds will cut through anything you face. It's good enough that I sold the T-54 and moved that crew to the Obj 140. 8/10 <3<3 WZ-120 440 alpha on a medium tank is pretty nasty but you give up a lot for it on this T-54 variation. The gun handling is horrendous - bad bloom, long aim time. But what is far worse is a piddly 3° of gun depression. Positions you usually use will have you aiming high in the sky. Whenever I play this tank I feel like I'm just fighting to get my gun on the target. Playing it more consistently would probably reduce those problems. In addition to the big alpha you get good penetration including a 340 pen HEAT round. If you can actually aim at a tank, there's a good chance you will hurt it! The turret is very good (better than the T-54), but don't go thinking you have T-54 hull armor - it's not only thinner, it's at a worse angle. Your entire hull is pretty vulnerable to the guns you face so try to avoid getting shot there. The tank does drive pretty nicely thanks to low ground resistance values. 5/10 <3 E-75 This is armor done right - tough armor that improves with skilled angling but also doesn't give up everything useful for its armor (I'm looking at you Maus). Frontally the E-75 is tough; even your "weak" lower plate can bounce 250 pen shells with a bit of angling. The 12.8cm gun handles well enough and packs a 490 damage punch. Combined with good side armor the E-75 plays corners excellently - bait a shot into your armor then pop out and hit them hard. The E-75 also maintains reasonable speed and acceleration. It's fast enough to flex a bit when needed. It can win a flank, it can stall a flank, it can flex; there's few place where an E-75 isn't useful which is one of the strongest aspects of this tank. Just be careful not to get rushed - your armor isn't useful when they're on your side and your DPM is pretty poor. 8.5/10 <3<3 ST-1 The IS-6 on steroids. The turret is amazing; not only does it look like a person whose head is way to big for their body, it is also supremely armored. Get this tank hull down and laugh as people try to pen you (although there are still a few strips on where they can). The hull armor is theoretically good as well, although my results have been less than stellar. When trying to play corners the shoulders are a major liability. The lower plate is also very poor and you really have to avoid getting shot there (which is difficult). Firepower is reasonable; a good balance of alpha, ROF, and penetration. Aim time and bloom are a little worse than I would like. I often have to stay exposed longer than I would prefer. Although by the numbers this tank should have similar mobility to the E-75, it feels much more sluggish to me. Perhaps I just haven't played them side by side enough. Overall I feel the weaknesses in the hull armor limit this tank. 6/10 <3<3 WZ-111-1/4 Take an IS-7, lose some armor to gain some speed, and you get a WZ one one one one one one one one one four. Well, alright, you lose a lot of armor. The WZ has a tough turret but the hull won't bounce much consistently. This doesn't have the armor to hold a flank or lead a push. A classic heavium, this tank is about moving around the battlefield and putting your high penetration 490 alpha shells into bad guys. It's quick enough to (mostly) keep up with medium pushes and can flex around as needed. Solid tank all around. 7.5/10 <3<3 T30 At first glance the T30 just looks like a better T34. At closer inspection you realize it is a LOT better. Your gun is upgraded to a 155mm with 750 alpha. This is enough that many people won't even push in to you for fear of taking a hit. The gun handling still leaves something to be desired and my biggest complaint about this tank is its tendency to throw shots off target. Your reloads are long and missing a shot can be very problematic. The turret is an improved version of the T34; it loses the overmatch region on the top and thus is much more reliable. Your hull is still very soft though so do your best to avoid exposing it. One of the few TDs I actually enjoy thanks to a turret and good gun depression. 7/10 <3<3 Obj704 A relic from a past age, the 704 is still powerful. While technically poorly armored this tank generates a surprising number of bounces. The mantlet is invulnerable and there is some spaced armor on the sides that will sometimes eat HEAT shells. Wiggling your hull will help your mantlet eat more shots. The gun hits hard, handles reasonably well, and has scary DPM for such a big gun. Finding positions where you can fire away unharassed will quickly vaporize bad guys. The 704's camo is also quite good. Even though that game has been nerfed with current map design, you can still find positions where you will spot the enemy before they see you and you can get that first shot off unhindered. If it wasn't for my dislike of casemate TDs, I would play this much more consistently. 6.5/10 <3 FV3805 (No longer in garage) I just finished grinding through this arty. It's actually pretty solid. I found the gun to be a perfect combination of accuracy, alpha, and rate of fire. The accuracy is enough to actually hit targets with terrifying consistency. 1750 alpha will still do 500+ damage to heavily armored targets and will one shot many tanks if you get a lucky pen. Gun arc is great at 50° which means it is easier to change targets. Aim time and bloom is enough to give ~20 seconds of movement time between shots and still be fully aimed by the time you are reloaded. Mobility wasn't great but you could still shoot and scoot your way around the map. On some maps it was a little too slow to get to intial firing positions. I couldn't see any point in keeping it around when you have an M53/M55 and ConqGC though. -7/10 <3 M53/M55 This arty is so good that it is often used in clan wars over tier 10 arty. The firepower is pretty similar to the FV3805 described above; you get a little more alpha for slightly worse handling and accuracy. You also gain a significant amount of mobility - this thing is fast and can relocate quite a bit between shots. Gun arc is ridiculous at 60° meaning you can often aim at most of the map without needed to turn the hull. Shell arc is also pretty good allowing you to reach behind smaller hills and punish those campers! -7/10 <3<3 Tier 10 M60 I get so bored by Russkie wedges that I actually picked this tank over the 907. My short summary of it would be "not great, not terrible." The firepower is on par with most of the other 105mm armed NATO tanks and the gun handling is quite good. Snap shotting is very effective. The tank is large and doesn't have much armor. You can get occasional bounces but nothing reliable. The giant cupola also hurts your hull down ability. Mobility is pretty average. 6/10 <3<3 E-50M Take the E-50, make the APCR standard, make it a bit faster, and you get the 50M. The gun is a thing of beauty - fantastic handling, incredible accuracy, and the highest APCR penetration the mediums. However, the E-50M suffers from the armor being much less effective at this tier and its larger profile becomes a liability. This tank almost never sees action in clan wars, but it is still an effective pubber. It just doesn't stand out as much at this tier. In truth, the E-50 is a more effective tank for its tier. 7.5/10 <3<3 T-62A T-54 clone number....ugh I don't even remember anymore. The Tier 10 Russkie mediums are all very good. They all get good mobility, good guns, good armor, good camo. Basically everything that makes a good tank in WOT, they got. The T-62A is particularly known for having a beast mode turret. Find a place to get hull down and you'll bounce tons of shots. The front plate on the hull is not great, but the side armor is surprisingly strong and you can play corners somewhat effectively (though it shouldn't be relied on). Despite only having a 320 alpha gun, the DPM on this tank is brutal. Need more? Let's give it best in class gun handling with excellent accuracy and aim time. Alright, it isn't the FASTEST medium tank so we should probably give it the lowest terrain resistance values in the game (<-- not actually sure this is true but they're pretty damn low). It's totally balanced though because it only has 5° of gun depression. Good tank, kind of boring in my opinion. 8.5/10 <3<3 Obj 140 Another one? This is just a minor variation of the T-62A. Someone who plays lots of Russian meds will tell you why they like the 62A or 140 better. Don't worry, they're pretty much the same tank. The 140 gets 1° more gun depression, a 5 kph higher top speed, but worse turret armor. Everything else I said about the T-62A applies here. Oh I forgot, they both have above average camo. These two Russian tanks are staples of clan wars as a flex force. I keep both because occasionally a caller will prefer one over the other (140 can get into early positions slightly faster). 8.5/10 <3<3 Batchat Finally something unique! Remember that AMX 1390 that was almost fun but kinda annoying to play because everyone was bigger and badder than you? Well the Batchat is just the same thing improved in every way. Your autoloader gets an upgrade to a 5 round, 390 alpha clip. A nearly 2000 damage spike will make the bad guys yell "Oh shit" when you show up behind them. The bad news? The gun handling is poor which makes landing all 5 shots in a clip more difficult. Ammo count is limited. You can easily run out of shells in a pub game. The clip time is also quite long so if you don't get that kill shot on the enemy medium he might just chase you down and kill you before you can reload. But the Batchat is still an excellent medium. It is fast and it hits hard. Clip someone then use your reload time to relocate and prepare to dump your next clip. The tank is stealthy and does vision control well. It's the premiere scout in clan wars. Recent map design has hurt this tank though - corridors and limited vision games hurts this tank more than others. 8.5/10 <3<3<3 STB-1 The best looking tank at Tier 10. That alone is enough reason for me to keep it. The selling point for the STB is the high DPM 105mm gun. It comes at a price though - the gun handling is notoriously poor. It can't take snap shots as effectively as other mediums at this tier. Fortunately it has 10° gun depression and a decent turret that lets it play well on hilly terrain. The rest of your armor is non-existant and arty is a major concern. It's not super fast, but drives pretty well. One nice bonus is the 410 base view range which makes it easy to drop optics and run a max crew skill build. That helps mitigate some of the gun handling problems. Excessive HEAT spam also helps if you're in to that kind of thing. The biggest problem with this tank is that you constantly get distracted by how good it looks. Overall I like driving this and try to sneak it into clan wars when I can. 7/10 <3<3 T110E5 This tank got buffed massively when it went HD. The once weak cupola is hardly worth shooting at anymore. Even the "weak" lower plate can be problematic to get a round through. The 120mm gun provides solid firepower - alpha is nothing impressive for a heavy, but the DPM is good and the gun handling is pretty good (relative to other heavies, at least). Mobility is on the higher side for heavies. Basically, the E5 has pretty good everything right now. You can push, flex, stall a flank; all while enjoying classic AmericanComfortTM. This has become a clan wars staple. I expect it will also see a nerf soon. 9/10 <3<3 T57 This tank was borderline OP for quite a while. A few patches ago it received a large gun handling nerf and quickly fell out of favor. However, it is still a solid tank. The big 120mm autoloader can deliver 1600 damage in just 6 seconds. Then 22 seconds later it can do it again. This gives it near T-62A levels of DPM. With the gun handling nerf, it has become significantly harder to actually land all those shots though. It's particularly noticeable at medium ranges where a little bit of movement between shots causes signficant bloom. The armor is highly unreliable (particularly the turret). Sometimes you will bounce all sorts of shots while other times everything will cut right through you. All these traits relegate the T57 to a support role; you want to engage from close range but need other tanks around to protect you during reload. This can be particularly frustrating when solo pubbing - you are forced to rely on pubbie to push or take a hit when needed. Still, the ability to dump two clips in barely more than 30 seconds can be enough to crush a flank quickly and help win games. 6/10 <3<3 FV215B Short version: amazing gun on medicore chassis. The 215's 120mm is pure delight to use. It gets the same gun handling as the T-62A with faster aim time and since it is on a slower chassis you see even less bloom. Aiming feels optional. It also packs a 326 pen APCR round which is significantly better than the HEAT rounds that many tier 10 tanks have. When maxed out it also boasts the highest DPM of any heavy at this tier. Armor wise, the turret is very tough; getting hull down lets you tear things up without taking much damage. That's tougher to do with a rear mount turret though. The hull is large and soft. You don't have enough armor to effectively play corners and your engine deck is an easy target for arty. You can also burn from the front so dropping AFE is not recommended. The tank accelerates well but is speed capped at 34 kph so it is more mobile than many other heavies but isn't going to pull of medium tank maneuvers. I personally enjoy this tank for the awesome gun and the uniqueness of the rear mounted turret. 8/10 <3<3 E-100 A classic brick tank, the E-100 is the best of the German tier 10s. Its armor consists of thick and flat plates. Like the E-75 before it, angling is critical. The flat surfaces are vulnerable to HEAT rounds...and you will catch a LOT of those. Keeping your lower plate hidden and all surfaces angled to incoming fire makes this tank tough to pen. Add a giant 2700 hit point pool and it becomes an extremely survivable tank. It's fantastic at pushing or holding a flank and sees a lot of use in clan wars for that reason. The E-100 is a particularly good corner fighter being able to bait shots into the side armor, then back up and smack someone for 750. The gun okay. Handling leaves a lot to be desired but is workable. The AP round is terrible so you will want to fire HEAT exclusively. 750 alpha carries some intimidation factor but your reload is also very long so you need to be careful not to get rushed. The E-100 plays particularly well in a platoon especially with something like a T57 at your back. E-100 takes the hit and the T57 clips into them. 8/10 <3<3 Maus The best reason to have this tank is so that you can make a fascist box tank simulator platoon (Maus, E-100, JPE-100). Other than that, the Maus has good armor and bad everything else. Like the E-100, the armor relies on good angling. Your large flat plates are easy prey for HEAT spamming tanks. Keep those surfaces angled and only point your turret at them long enough to fire. With the giant hit point pool, the Maus can certaintly take a while to take down. Mobility wise it is just bad. The gun is the same as the E-75 with hardly any DPM increase. That gun worked well on a tier 9, but it's pretty lousy at this tier. At least it can still hurt the bad guys, but no one is very afraid of getting shot by a Maus. I have this tank purely for the fun of wading into a fight and taking a beating. Occasionally you actually live to tell about it too. But it isn't good. 4/10 <3 AMX 50B When the T57 got nerfed, the 50B became the favored autoloader. You get the same 1600 damage burst, just a bit slower. The intraclip time is half a second longer (increasing exposure time by 1.5 seconds) and drum reload is ~5 seconds longer. The 50B still hits a nice balance of spike potential and reasonable down time. A big bonus is a much more reliable 325 pen APCR round. The mobility is great which lets you flex around the battlefield as needed. This makes it common in clan wars - it can move to support as needed and when the push happens it spikes hard. Of course, it isn't the easiest tank to play. Your large turret is very soft and everyone loves to shoot 50Bs. Arty and land arty are particularly dangerous. 8/10 <3<3 IS-7 IS-7s are a nuisance to deal with. Lots of sloped surfaces makes the armor tough to penetrate consistently (especially if it is being wiggled or angled well) and the turret is nearly invulnerable. It also has a weird strip of spaced armor on the side that looks like normal armor but is actually tough to penetrate (it'll eat HEAT shells all day). It's also relatively fast for such a heavily armored tank and it useful for grabbing early positions. The firepower is nothing stellar. Mediocre gun handling, a weaker APCR round, and only 490 alpha with poor DPM doesn't impress, but it is good enough to get things done. This still sees action in clan wars, particularly in situations where you can get a good hull down spot as the turret is resistant even to most HEAT rounds. 7/10 <3 T110E4 I'm not really sure why I have this in my garage. It is almost exclusively a worse E-100. You get an firepower upgrade in terms of raw penetration (the APCR is truly ridiculous) but also worse handling and no appreciable DPM increase. You are slightly faster. And that is pretty much it. The armor sucks and will only generate occasional random bounces. And you have 700 fewer hit points. I just can't see any reason to bring this into a pub game over an E-100. Maybe for a TD mission. 3/10 <3 JPE-100 I have this purely for giggles. Smacking someone for 1000+ makes me smile in a "wow this is retarded" kind of way. Technically armored, your armor is easily negated by flanking, shooting the lower plate, or HEATing right through the casemate (which is common). It's slow, it comes with all the other limitations of a casemate TD, and arty makes things very unpleasant. However, the alpha is significant and people fear it. Find a spot with longer firing lanes where you can't get rushed and you can stall an entire flank because the pubbies will be too afraid to take a hit. Still a bad tank though. 3/10 <3 ProxyCentauri, Treeburst, Fulvin and 19 others

weesh 669 Share Posted October 27, 2015 fun read. Pershing The best of the tier 8 mediums (although they're all fairly weak to begin with). are you calling it better than the 416, or are you just ignoring the 416?

I think he's calling it better. 416 is truly good, but it is rather gimped in some departments. Pershing doesn't have that much problem being not terrible on bad match up. Tho me and dual could be biased due to American comfortTM fans.
PityFool 7,737 Share Posted October 28, 2015 When the 416 first came out, the meta was still very much "camo and snipe", which the 416 excels at and hence it was 416 > Pershing back then. Recently as the maps became far more brawl oriented and engagement ranges have shortened significantly, the pershings turret and gun depression allow it to be more effective than the 416 overall. Purely map design that has changed the rating of the 2 tanks. dualmaster333

dualmaster333 3,324 Author Share Posted October 28, 2015 Yeah, 416 is relegated largely to a bitch sniper role. That role has been severely diminished due to map design (corridor/brawl meta and Agent Orange campaign). The 416 doesn't do much else well, whereas the Pershing can be relevant on every map. I'm also pretty biased toward American hull down style so I find the Pershing more fun. Monkey
PityFool 7,737 Share Posted October 28, 2015 I should also add that I'd sooner class the 416 as a TD than a medium. dualmaster333

Rexxie 10,789 Share Posted October 28, 2015 People's opinions on the 416 are funny. When it came out, people adored it. After the meta changes, people just kind of accepted it wasn't as great anymore and was merely a good tank (albeit awesome damage farmer). Then like four people said it's awesome and somehow that's become the dominant opinion once again. Weird how that happens! Overall you and I have pretty similar opinions, although you're a lot more lenient towards scouts than I am. Neat read, and gigantic garage! Neat read, and gigantic garage! Thanks for writing this up Yeah, I actually rated my tanks and then went back and looked at your ratings. I was surprised how often they lined up! A few minor differences here and there but same general trends. As for light tanks, they are undeniably worse than their +1 tier medium counterparts. However, I find I can still pull winrates in the low-to-mid 60s in the better ones (only a few percent behind the mediums). Jacg used to talk about how their MM weight is so much lower that while your effectiveness is less than a +1 tier medium, you are expected to do less, so you can still do less in the battle but your relative effectiveness is still high. Lights can be pretty frustrating because you are always weaker than your opponents by default. I guess that just makes it more fun when you outplay them though :-D Monkey

The MT-25 actually got buffed since release so it is reasonably fun to drive (but still won't satisfy those old T-50-2 desires). For the T-54 lightweight, take a T-54, buff the speed and acceleration, shed a lot of hit points, remove any hull armor, and downgrade the firepower significantly while still seeing the same match making. dualmaster333 3,324 Author Share Posted October 28, 2015 Bonus round: Tanks I forgot and Upcoming Garage Changes! Firefly (Recently sold) The Firefly was always interesting to me from a historical perspective (also from too much time spent playing Allied General) and I enjoy most of the Shermans in this game. Unfortunately, the WOT version of the tank is underwhelming. The gun is pretty nice (having good penetration is wonderful on a mid tier medium) but the alpha+DPM is underwhelming, particularly because the mediocre gun handling means you miss a fair number of shots.. You lose typical Sherman gun depression (only 6°) so the hull down style doesn't work very well. Acceleration is sluggish and top speed is low. This tank fails to be a good TD/medium hybrid. 3/10 <3 ConqGC I only ground this arty out for clan wars. Yeah, totally not because I have fun being a dick in pubs with it. Just for clan wars. On the good/retarded side: massive alpha with 11 meters of splash on the gold round means you don't actually need to hit anything to do substantial damage. Which is good because the accuracy is so bad you won't hit anything very often. Reload is long (47 seconds) and aim time is colossal. The long reload and high variability in actually landing a shot in the right time zone makes damage output very inconsistent. Something like the M53/M55 has much more consistent output. Gun arc is excellent at 60° meaning less turning of the chassis. Shell arc is also the best of any tier 10 arty which lets you reach over a lot more hills. All in all a true abomination that has no place in this game. -7/10 <3<3 Planned additions to the garage: M48 Patton I really should know better since I've bought and sold this tank twice. It is basically an M60 making it playable but definitely worse than a number of other tier 10 mediums. I already have a girl crew lined up for it though and I'm kinda working on a project to 3 mark all the US mediums. So as soon as I have 6 million credits to burn I'll pick this up. 13 75 I'm pretty sure this is a fairly bad tier 7 light but need to double check. It is on discount right now thanks to the On Track. I'll look to 3 mark the 12t and then I'll have a decent crew to move up to this. Also part of a 3 mark all the French light tanks project. Currently at zero out of 5 so things are really going well. WZ-131 I think this is still a candidate for best tier 7 light tank. I love the WZ-132 and don't mind the idea of having the 131 in my garage as well. I have a crew on the 59-16 that will move up after finishing MOEs. Conqueror? I have an extra crew from playing through the Firefly. I had originally been planning to go up to the Charioteer, but I really don't feel like playing the Challenger and the stock Charioteer grind is loooooong. I didn't love the Conqueror before because it was fat, slow, and poorly armored. Having an actually decent turret makes me think I'd actually enjoy playing it again though. SchnitzelTruck 3,600 Share Posted October 28, 2015 My garage has like 10 tanks in it. Rip rage selling. I like these garage reviews. Kinda nice to see others opinions in little tank by tank paragraphs rather than individual wall of text guides.
dualmaster333 3,324 Author Share Posted December 1, 2015 Additional reviews for tank changes! LTTB This is my second time on this tank.....just stopping in to get the third mark on it (currently around 86%). It is about what I remember. The tank is fun to drive - fast and agile. It also carries a surprising amount of armor. It's not reliable, but will generate far more random bounces than most other light tanks. Unfortunately, this tank gets poor gun handling and awful gun depression (-3°) - both things I hate in a tank. Perhaps with practice you can learn to handle the gun depression, but I constantly feel like I am just fighting to get the gun on target. Many of my usual light tank positions are useless because I can't shoot anything from there. At least the gun has good penetration. 4/10 <3 Lorraine 51 SPG This was dumb but I've always kinda wanted to have a bat arty so I started that direction. This thing feels fairly poor. The 1250 alpha gun with low splash radius just doesn't do much damage even on direct hits. It aims relatively fast for an arty which is good because you are constantly turning your chassis due to an extremely small gun arc. It's pretty mobile which lets you stay close to the action and run quickly when needed....its only real plus. -3/10 <3 CDC Bought this on a whim because I have too much gold. Well, it's also a really good strongholds tank and trains my Batchat crew. The tank is pretty mobile although don't be tricked by the massive h.p/t - the terrain resistances are extremely high which makes the tank more sluggish than I was expecting. Your armor is non-existent and is a large liability. Anything can pen you. You have nothing to bait shots when forced to brawl. Arty LOVES you and will orbital strike you non-stop. Gun handling is pretty terrible with lots of bloom. The base accuracy is still pretty good though so you just have to take more time to aim in if you want to consistently hit targets. The DPM is reasonable though and the AP penetration is enough that I rarely shoot APCR....making credits earnings excellent. Playing this is strongholds with a credit boost was netting over 100k credits per game. As a pub tank it is probably below average as far as tier 8 mediums go. I'd definitely give the FCM 50t the edge just due to preferential MM. 4/10 <3<3 Other tank changes: ARL 44 (Sold!) I just wasn't playing this tank at all and decided to steal the crew for the Lorraine arty. I just prefer playing other Tier 6 tanks to this one. Plus it was a pure credit loser. 59-16 swapped for WZ-131 I finished the 3rd mark on the 59-16 and sold it so fast I forgot to take a screenshot. That tank just annoyed me. I ended up settling on the autoloader as the best gun option. You just need to be much more careful about choosing your targets and you will find some battles you just can kill certain tanks. Anyways, the WZ-131 is now crewed and ready to make the 3 MOE run. MT-25 (Sold!) Got the third mark on it and moved the crew to the LTTB. It was fairly fun so I might rebuy it in the future but for now there was no reason to keep it around. AMX 13 75 Picked this up on sale. I'll get a crew on it after finishing the 3rd mark on the 12t. I'm currently waiting for the 12t buffs in the next patch because I want to play a decent number of games with the buffed tank (I think it will be a pretty significant improvement!). 13 75 also getting buffed! Planned additions: Centurion Action X This tank is visually awesome and after playing it on sheriff account seems like the only not terrible Centurion. I plan to free XP past the Cent 7/1 because that thing is a turd. I'll steal my 2.8 skill Comet crew to put on this and backfill the Comet with my spare 1-skill crew. Unfortunately this means I won't have a crew available for the Conqueror. If only I could win a CromwellB I could dump my tech tree Cromwell and use that crew on the Conq. Oh well. Skoda T40 I played this on sheriff last night and it felt pretty decent to me. I'll definitely pick this up once they add it to the tech tree for gold. Skodas! I plan to free XP to the tier 6 Czech tank and grind through that. Then I'll free XP past the tier 7 and grind from the Tier 8 onward. HT No VI? I'm not sure about this one. I can easily spare the gold, but don't have much desire to mess around with the Jap heavies. The only thing I'm considering is pickING up the O-Ix for giggles.

dualmaster333 3,324 Author Share Posted August 5, 2016 I'm bored at work so here's another round of changes: Tanks that went bye bye GW Panther And the world is a better place now that it is gone. I haven't touched it in months. If I want to be a jackass and ruin someone's game I have better arty for that. Plus I've long since finished all the arty missions which was the original reason I bought this thing. IS-7 I've never liked this tank but for some reason want to like it. This is the second time I've sold it. The combination of a mediocre gun and hull armor that never seemed to work for me made it frustrating to play. I don't think I've played a game in it the past year so I decided to downgrade to the T-10 and at least have some fun with that. JPE-100 I thought this tank would be good for giggles with the retarded alpha cannon, but I found it was less than fun to play. I decided to downgrade to the JT which is significantly better. Comet I technically still have this but the equipment has been stripped and the crew will be going to the Conqueror. I recently played a bunch of games in it to get the 3rd MOE and found it quite a bit less effective than it used to be. The destruction of the vision meta and the mantlet getting ruined with the HD model has really hurt the effectiveness of this tank. It's still not a bad tank but I don't actually play tier 7 that much anymore and I have several other good options at that tier. At some point I might decide to train another crew up for this tank though. AMX 50 100 Also not gone just yet, but if the new French heavy line actually comes out and actually isn't terrible I'll probably be ditching this tank and using the crew on the new line. Additions to the garage AMX 13 75 At one point I had considered 3 marking all the light tanks in the game so I picked this tank up again. But I haven't enjoyed playing light tanks for a while (even though they were never that "good" Wargaming has also managed to make them un-fun to play now). So this thing just hangs out in my garage now. It's pretty mediocre and there's really no reason to play it when the T71 exists. Patton KR Well, not really because I refuse to give WG money. I did manage to 3 mark this tank during the rental period a few months ago. Even though I can't play it, it still looks pretty in my garage. This is one of the more enjoyable tier 8 premiums to play. I obviously love US mediums to begin with and the Patton KR is nearly the same as the Pershing. Hopefully I get a chance to win this tank in some future clan wars or tournament thing. IS-5 I got this for the last season of Clan league and have actually enjoyed playing it a bit. It's a flat out downgrade from the IS-3 of course. It loses the superior gun handling of the IS-3 so you have to spend a lot more time exposing and aiming. The armor is also less reliable. But the IS-5 can still bully lower tier tanks well, the 390 alpha is still effective in higher tier games, and having a standard round with 221 penetration means it earns credits reasonably well. Leo PTA I don't know why I did this (twice). I heard people around here talking about it being decent so I decided to give it a try. Unfortunately it requires a play style that I really don't care for (pure reactive damage farmer). I sold the thing, moved the crew back to the E-50, then got it back using a ticket and am considering moving the E-50 crew back to it and giving it another go. I'm an idiot. T-10 I played this all the way back when it first came out with the Russian heavy line split. It was alright at the time but nothing worth keeping. With buffs to the armor from the HD model (and did it get other buffs at some point?) it has become a pretty solid performer. I succumbed to the popular opinion and decide to downgrade my IS-7 and use the crew on the T-10. Thus far I haven't been disappointed. The style is similar to the WZ-1111111111111111/4 - a relatively fast heavy with a punchy gun. The T-10 even adds a little more useful armor to make it a solid brawler. Overall it's a pretty good tank to be aggressive in which I always like. Jadgtiger I really enjoyed this tank the first time through. The gun is a thing of beauty and I really didn't mind the chassis too much - it was good enough to work corners and had somewhat effective hull down. But mostly the gun just tears through bad guys and beats them into submission. Then WG decided to buff it with 300 more hit points. I expect it to be pretty durable and a big old bully. Currently waiting on the crew training special to retrain the JPE crew. Conqueror My first time through this I almost liked it but not quite. My biggest complaint was that it had no usable armor. But when it went HD it was given the FV215B's turret so now it can actually hull down and have a way to reliably bounce some shots. I expect it to be pretty enjoyable now (obviously it is pretty popular). Waiting on crew training special to get my Comet crew on here. Obj 430v2 I decided to head this way during the Tier 9 elimination thread. Overall it is a pretty decent tank. The rear mount turret gives it some uniqueness but also is a little awkward to play. It's a pretty good brawler - the armor is effective and it can play corners quite well. The firepower is excellent as long as you don't mind being generous with HEAT. It's not a tank that I will play a ton but I like having it around for something different. Bat 155 55 For some reason I've always been curious about this arty. The higher ROF, mobility, and accuracy seemed interesting. I found it to be pretty mediocre. The 1250 alpha is just weak at this tier: lots of tanks will only take 300-400 damage from a shot. That level of damage usually isn't enough to significantly influence the fight. It's still an RNG slot machine. It's not even that fast compared to the M53/M55. It does shoot and scoot pretty well which allows you to be elusive. Honestly though, if we are forced to have arty in this game, the Bat arty is more what it should be like. Shoot a little more often, be able to hit your shots a little more often, but rarely do large amounts of damage to any one target. No more of the deleting a full health tank once every ten games because RNG. Centurion AX This has been a pleasant addition to the garage if for no other reason than it is nice to look at. It's not the best Tier 10 medium but it is pretty decent. A typical NATO 105mm gun, good gun depression, decent gun handling. The armor is nothing great but in hull down mode you can get some bounces with your turret. Driving it is the most enjoyable part since it accelerates well, turns well, climbs well, and doesn't have the retarded low top speed of the old 4202. kunjuro, TheMarine0341, sr360 and 2 others

CAX is pretty comfy, only negative thing about it the damn size. It's absolutely huge compared to old FV4202.
dualmaster333 3,324 Author Share Posted January 16, 2017 Welcome to the latest edition of "I'm stuck at work for another hour and a half and I really want to avoid doing actual work!" New Additions to the Garage M7 (Tier 5 medium) This is part of my quest to three mark all the US medium tanks. It is very nearly a light tank without the poor matchmaking. With 380 base view range and decent camo you can out-vision most of the tanks you will face. Mobility is solid and will let you get to flanks or run away effectively. The gun is a bit lackluster; the 6 pounder has trouble consistently hitting stuff which ruins the otherwise strong DPM. It works with the whole package, though, so this seems like it will be a strong performer. 7/10 Crusader Classified as a light tank, this enjoys normal tier 5 MM and is effectively a medium tank. It carries a similar gun to the M7 with worse gun handling. The top speed is also far lower (44vs60) and it has 20m less view range. This is pretty crippling; that kind of firepower on a slow unarmored vehicle leaves me with the initial impression of a heap of garbage. 3/10 T-34-85 I recall people considering this one of the better tier 6 mediums, but I've found it to be nothing more than mediocre. In fact, everything about it is mediocre (which saves it from being bad). It's not completely useless in any situation and it's not particularly great in any situation. I personally find the gun frustrating as the handling is rather poor and tends to whiff if not fully aimed in. The mobility is fine and it has a bit of turret armor and......what else can I say.......its blandness is boring just to think about. 5/10 Skoda T40 This is a nerfed version of the tier 8 medium tank placed two tiers lower. On the good side, the speed and acceleration are surprisingly solid for such a large vehicle. 220 alpha is great at this tier and the penetration is good enough when not facing tier 8 heavies. On the bad side, this tank is the size of a barn with minimal armor making you a juicy target for anything that looks your way. The gun handling is also quite poor. 4.5/10 Strv 74 Sweden makes an appearance in my garage with this rather fine tier 6 medium. The S-74 is all about the gun. Extremely low (relatively speaking) dispersion values, aim time, and base accuracy gives you tier 10 levels of gun handling at tier 6. The gun has a nice 150 alpha with solid penetration values. What I really notice about this tank is that while the raw DPM is a bit low, the effective DPM is as good or better than other mediums; you can place those shots so much more consistently. 15° gun depression lets you play some neat new positions and is necessary to hide your rather weak armor. You won't be bouncing many shots so you need to minimize exposure. You also lose some mobility; this tank is noticeably more sluggish than other mediums at this tier. This tank happens to feature characteristics that I really enjoy so it will probably stick around in my garage for quite a while. 7/10 VK 2801 I wrote a longer review of this tank here. Short summary: this is a surprisingly solid tier 6 light. The vision, camo, and speed are good enough to do all your typical light tank things. But it also comes with something unique - a 105mm howitzer. This changes how you approach engagements and adds a layer of uniqueness and fun to the tank. It's also quite capable and is one of my more winning light tanks. T37 is still a little better but I would probably place the VK second. 6.5/10 KV-4 Kres The handful of games I have played in this tank have been underwhelming. The front plates on this tank can be consistently penned by 200+ guns which really hurts the whole point of this tank. It is at it's best when reverse angling off a corner or baiting pubbies to shoot heavily angled sides. But against someone competent this tank just seems to get ripped up pretty quickly. The firepower in general seems adequate. Overall the tank feels poor. 4/10 IS-5 This is a credit printing IS-3 that has a slightly worse armor scheme, a little worse mobility, and massively worse bloom. The armor is pretty effective and makes this tank tough to deal with front the front. The biggest complaint is that your reticle blooms horribly with even slight movements meaning you are forced to spend more time aiming shots. Still an okay tank overall for making credits because it can bully lower tiers and still contribute something in higher tiers. (Special note: a good go-to tank for drunk tanking because RRR and it's not like you were going to hit your shots anyways....) 6/10 T-44-100 I successfully no-lifed this tank into my garage. In typical Russkie fashion it isn't great at anything and it isn't bad at anything. I haven't actually played many games in it (and most of the ones I did play were not sober). I'll have to 3 MOE this thing and fluff some RUmed crews at some point in the future. STA-2 I haven't actually played this since the buff. My biggest complaint was the top speed really limiting the ability to flex around the map, but with the mobility and speed buffs it should be pretty good now. Decent gun handling and 10° gun depression make for a comfortable ride. Mostly AP usage makes the credits roll in (which is why I'm playing this to begin with). Still not as good as a Pershing. 7/10 M4A1 Rev Another premium I don't have many games in. I'm pretty excited to three mark this though. The 390 alpha on a US hull with reasonable soft stats should enjoyable. Certainly a lot better than the CDC :-D Tanks That Are No Longer With Us VK1602 This tank was actually pretty fun. The whole gimmick is the 3cm autocannon capable of putting out 12x30 damage in a brief burst. It definitely requires a different playstyle (you need to be able to close the distance to use it effectively) but it turned out to be pretty enjoyable. Not good enough to keep but well worth the play through. AMX 1375 I finished the third mark on this and can see no reason to keep it around. It wasn't a bad tank but a T71 is straight up superior (and also doesn't bleed credits from a full APCR loadout). Crew is probably going back to the 13 90 to remind myself how much I hate that tank. Leo PTA Bleh. This is actually a decent tank with a high skill ceiling. The gun is great (when you can take the time to aim) and the tank is pretty fast. This makes it a great mobile sniper and it retreats well from a falling flank to farm more damage eleswhere. But the armor is poor, the bloom is bad, and the gun depression sucks which means the tank just can't do aggressive things well. Best used from the red line or well behind your friendlies. Insanely boring to play and thus it said goodbye. Monkey and CraBeatOff
