How to 2.5k in the SP?

Recommended Posts

Alright, after not really receiving any useful help in the SP thread, I have done a 2-hour (turned out to be less than 2hours) SuperPershing session and would like some serious feedback on how I play it. Considering that I don't spam full APCR and don't run food I've set my goal at 2.5k DPG so I can have a realistical chance to get triple marks on it.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7x06lwCMTifMHA1ckpOZmN2Tms/view?usp=sharing

Here's a quick rundown of every game and what I thought was the reason I didn't achieve my goal, it mostly boils down to the armour randomly not working because reasons and being too slow to get enough damage done.

Game 1: Defeat, 1432 damage, Screwed over by team, didnt bounce jackshit

Game 2: Victory, 1332 damage, RNG pls, literally missed every other shot + nothing went city
Game 3: Defeat, 2813 damage, shouldve bounced more than 1700 there, 13 75 penning me with ap twice in a row was extra annoying
Game 4: Defeat, 2369 damage, I was doing well until that VK B decided to just roll over everyone
Game 5: Victory, 2385 damage, Apart from noticing that Borsig when it was already too late I think I did well
Game 6: Victory, 1231 damage, game was over before it had even begun... I feel like I couldnt have been more aggressive since those T9s wouldve just ripped me apart
Game 7: Victory, 1881 damage, really no clue where I couldve gone there to be any useful, way too slow for north so I just pushed middle, wasted all my gold on a hulldown type 59 and then a hulldown jt88, lost 17k credits
Game 8: Defeat, 987 damage, double T34 shit on my face first, then middle & arty proceeded to take a dump on top of that, probably shouldve let the enemy team come instead of being aggressive
Game 9: Victory, 1142 damage, shouldve camped base
Game 10: Whatever, 1222 damage, suddenly left by entire team, 5 times snapshot into cupola RQ
Stopped the session here because I was going tilt

absolutely horrendous session even for my standards, 3/10 above 2k and almost every other game low 1000s, marks dropped from 88% to 87%. Help pls.

Mount optics to spot shit and do track shots into the front/rear wheel causing damage AND assisted damage. Even with Löwe I often have 2K spotting damage and its the same kind of race car.

I'm not just trying to get 3 marks though, my goal is 2.5k dpg, if I can get the marks too that it's a nice bonus. Optics on the SP aren't really worth it when you're trying to maximize dpm and mobility.

Why would you want to maximize dpm? Arent you trying to maximize dpg?

That was just my reason to go with Vents + BiA instead of Optics, 90% of the time I'll go to heavy corners and I don't need optics there. If there's a good reason that Optics will help me get more dpg, then sure, I'll try that out.

I had about 2.4k in the SP before I stopped tryharding and now its 2.2k iirc. /stats

The trick to the SP is to not rely on your armor, spam a good amount of APCR, go for a major heavy chokepoint if you have at least a couple meatshields to make sure retards dont yolo you. if you can platoon with one good player to help you hold a flank. Your reload is fast enough to perma track most heavies, try to go for track shots as much as possible, that will help hold the tards back and let you keep shitting out damage.

In terms of armor, because of the fact the front is spaced, if you angle it at, you will be penned in the sides, the trick is to face it straight at the enemy, wiggle it back and forth in 5-10 degree increments, anything to keep the armor profile shifting, keep the engagements to with your immediate front.

That is some stuff off the the top of my head, if you have any other questions I will try to answer them.

Play it like a T32 with the 90mm that can get hull bounces

went pretty easy to do 3MoE's because of aggressive positions you can take with mantlet armour and gun depression making me do almost 1k spotting per game (same goes for T32)

Old Swamp best Swamp fam, like I said for breeze, I elimanated the number of angles they could fire at me from, and kept my armor facing one way, they also come at me one by one yes :doge:

Some specific feedback about the replays I posted would be nice too :P

Usually I try to do what most people here said, go to heavy brawling areas, shoot APCR when I can't reliably pen with AP, don't angle (I sometimes forget D:) but wiggle the front and turret. The only thing I think I might need to work on is to not rely on armour, the amount of times where people just suddenly start penning everywhere frontally is stupid, although at that point I don't really know what to do with it, armour is its only strong point.

Bro sometimes it rolls this way. The worst runs I have in this game [Like right now] are not bad because the losses. They are bad because the completely lopsided matches where your team folds so fast you literally are swarmed by 5+ tanks in first major contact and end up with 100% DMG being traded shot for shot as you die. Or the ones where you do 90% of the breakthrough and sell your HP at the cost of there team losing, but then have all the newbs you saved pass you up and cap.

I feel your pain. I have had the worst luck ever with the CDC. I had 4 amazing games in a row then bam 20 bad ones. 5 DC`s in combat. 5 wins where I had 2k hard fought DMG [and would have had 5k after battle] but they capped, 5 losses like I described were my team just melted. Then 2 Arty pops and a fire. SO the 5k DMG games I was waiting for to balance the bad ones out havent came at all, as it seems like I either sink or swim.

Anyways dont give up on it. And try to get a platoon of one guy so he doesnt steal all your DMG, but so he can at least make the battles last longer.

I  would argue in endgame where your matched vs odd things like ISU`s or IS3`s ir other hard hitting heavy`s that Optics would push the Spershing into a safe buffer zone. Esp using its depression mixed with that.

wow, did they just line up and come at you one at a time?   That's an amazing amount of damage.  :sunbro:

Was this during one of those heavy events where the huge DMG sponges where the on track tank? You know like the great KV5 harvest? I was seeing soooo many padable games when 5 guys on each team were in those heavies either for Maus or during KV5 sale/mission, it was insane. Like 3 players on team had 5k+ DMG

Sry Dont know why it didnt merge post.

Normally if you are doing it right, you kill several things before that happens

I'd recommend Game 10 in particular (Mountain Pass), I did go ham, had my front vs all enemies, got penned by 50 100 twice in the cupola, I believe by the IS-3 as well and the ST-I penned me twice in a row god knows where. I've noticed that pretty much anything 240+ pen will punch through the front easily, anything else will hit your cupola with every shot, including IS-6s while I wiggle my turret.

some things to explain:

going ham isn't crossing through south alone on mountain pass

it's going D2/C1 on Erlernberg from south, D2 on Airfield from Northwest and general out of the normal chokepoints that makes the enemy crippled as hell while you rek and spot their entire team on that flank

while there is a pretty big chance you'll die it's incredibly easy to pull off in a tank like this that gets a shitton more armour hulldown and you'll net your team a VERY big advantage and if they don't after you doing that it's just nope, nope. nope, nope, nope, nope, nope

LBvrLlO.jpg

this is by going C1 right away on Erlernberg south with 13/15 tanks on their team there

They had stuff like ISU's so I kept pretty cool and poked more for spots rather than damage due to there being no arty

SP and the T32 are the only slow tanks that really does well at spotting due to their incredible power of creating aggressive chokepoints where the enemies only choice are to stay back because of your support (for example on the H1 hill) making it too hard for them to really get to you without dying trying

62A/IS-7/E5 are all very good at this as well, but not as good

62A and IS-7 are probably even better at creating those kinds of situations but lack of depression can make it hard to dish out damage and is where you've put yourself in a situation where you're probably better off elsewhere anyway actually doing damage (play4damagenot2win :serb:)

This is why you play the the tank like a T32 with the 90mm. Creating a massive chokepoint where you are the deciding factor in the outcome of the engagement is how to get reaaaally high DPG's
