ThomChen114 291 Share Posted November 3, 2015 As patch 10.0 is delayed but we'll still be getting the Centurion Action X through a micropatch, i'd like to know more about the planned upcoming changes (whether in the micropatch or once they fix patch 10.0). in the 9.10 test notes it mentioned that the Caernarvon would be getting the Centurion Action X's turret as it's elite turret, and likewise the Conqueror would have it as it's stock turret (i was just as surprised in Jingle's video on 10.0 test server when he found out about the Caernarvon having a new turret) so i'd just like to know more about this Centurion Action X turret and how will this change (or not) the Caernavon and the Conqueror (which i'm still grinding in) atm i find the Centurion turrets these tanks get holds out well, but can of course get hit and penetrated by higher tier guns occasionally, especially below the gun mantlet, but otherwise it's quite tough when hulldown (although i did notice the Caernarvon seemed to have been nerfed a bit when it become HD in that regards

I suspect it's the same with the Caernavon and the stock Conq.
kolni 69,670,872 Share Posted November 3, 2015 They'll be bouncier than you think. People don't really shoot your turret unless they have nothing else to shoot at (I.E. you're hulldown) and then it's like 280 effective or something I believe
CarbonWard 3,529 Share Posted November 3, 2015 Can't be too sure about Cent X, but Caern is definitely getting a huge buff in terms of hulldown capability. Current turret can be penetrated by 175mm penetration series guns such as the D25T in multiple spots, whereas the new turret would be frontally immune to it, the ability to resist 175mm in combat situations is an important benchmark for an effective heavy tank at tier 8 (IS6 vs 112 is a good example of pass vs fail), the new turret would definitely be a welcomed addition. FreddBoy 734 Share Posted November 3, 2015 ^ What CarbonWard said. At the moment, the Caernarfon is in a bad spot with its HD armour. But with the addition of essentially a tier 10 turret, it now can hull down far easier. It would be immune frontally to any gun with 175mm or less pen, meaning the vast majority if tier 6-8 would have to use gold, or simply won't be able to pen even with gold. And when ridge fighting, the armour rapidly mounts up, meaning that when using its maximum gun depression to fight, even 230mm of pen is unlikely to go through. It will be a huge buff, and a welcome one at that.

Made a thread about it on the main forums British section - http://forum.worldoftanks.eu/index.php?/topic/534065-the-centurion-action-x-and-its-turret-is-it-better/ For the Caernarvon it's a huge buff as even on the flat you'll need over 220 penetration to reliably go through the turret even in the weakest areas (aside cupola), once you start ridge working then the armour becomes even better and most tier 8s will need gold and even then you are talking 280 plus penetration rolls.
