How do I B1 Centauro?

Recommended Posts

Hi.

The Centauro is a big fat cow.  How do I use her?   The TD's before her had serviceable camo and excellent accuracy but the Centauro's lack of gun depression, poor acceleration, and complete lack of camo have left me kind of stumped.

My biggest problem is that I can't seem to meaningfully influence the match in a Centauro.  I typically play AFV's and feel impactful via vision abuse and flanking.   However, hiding in the back and taking pot shots with this whale of a TD just doesn't seem to win games in AW.

I'd recommend trying to stay as far from the enemy as possible, relocating a lot and let the team do the spotting. I prioritized the accuracy over everything to make the thing work reasonably well but some people prefer to play it bit like a flanker but personally I wasn't really impressed by the approach. Stay positive, lav-600 is worse in every way! ^^

It's an italian tank, right? Have you tried driving it in reverse or switching sides at the right moment? :doge:

Isn't that how you play every tank?

On a side note.  I love these forums but for fucks sake why does everything in them have to be a shitty meme?

Being italian, yes I do enjoy driving my tanks like this.
I'll stop being silly in your topic, sorry, I had to say what I posted previously :P

I didn't play the Centauro yet, but I'm working my way to it, so I'll follow the suggestions that will come up here with interest ;)

What commander did you settle on?  Sabrina?

I've been trying to do what you suggested but find that I'll deal two or three shots worth of early damage as tanks get into position and then a whole lot of nothing while my team evaporates.

Don't get me wrong.  Damage is important.  It just doesn't seem to be as important as in WoT.  In AW the late game carry is a unicorn, it's something you chase after but rarely see.  In my experience in order to carry in AW, you need to start at minute one of the match and herd your brain-dead window-licking pubbies and I just can't figure out how to do that with this constipated Centauro cow (he he alliteration.)

Oh, no fucks given about that.  Silly is fun.  I just get annoyed at all the meme sub forum/thread titles.  Makes navigation annoying.

Why would u use sabrina if you have no camo at all?

Freja buffs more of your gun stats, at least the shots u make will be felt more. She might be a good choice. Juan as well might be better than Sabrina, giving you gun buffs instead of camo/vision buffs

Well if the commander skills work I'd use either Juan or Freja... Probably Freja because you can pick accuracy instead of aim time without gimping your MBTs. If not then Sabrina because bad skills > no skills. TBH I don't see the high tier TDs as very good carry vehicles. I seem to average quite high damage with all of them but win rates are clearly under my average. For example stryker 4.2k damage but only 59% winrate which is one of my worst. Naturally centauro isn't anywhere near as good so you can't farm damage quite as well as with 120 or stryker. It is also possible my way of playing the TDs is just simply wrong.

I find that fascinating.  I have a crackpot theory that when the dust settles Winrate will be the most important metric to gauging Unicum status,  simply because high average dmg doesn't seem to be as important in AW.  AW is all about grabbing superior positioning and pushing the right place at the right time.

Centauro B1

If you want to set the tank up for PVP best take Sabrina not for the 10% camo buff it only brings you up to 0.20 from 0.18, but the reduced 30% camo loss from firing and 10% view range buff. Maxmilliam Koeing is another great option for the 10% crew buff and the 10% view range buff, Freja is focused just getting the most out of the gun and also offering more module damage. Its your choice what you want to retrofit the tank out but I would go with

Universal slot

for extra hp a reinforced internal hull may work

I rather focus on another firepower retrofit

Firepower slot

Mag actuator- aim time& damage buff

chrome barrel- damage & accuracy buff

enhanced breach lock from the Ariete- accuracy & reload buff

gyro stabilizers- aim time & reload buff

Mobility slot

cooling oil retrofit from the Ramka-99- is the best retrofit since it buffs turret traverse and acceleration.

enhanced gearing- it buffs turret traverse and max speed its better than nothing since hull traverse mobility retrofits do not buff wheels.

Technology Retrofit

- Enhanced Vision optics-the 20m- 30m view range buff helps in situations where you need to do your own spotting

- Intercom system apparently its still broken in not applying the 7.50% skill bonus to crew. But when it does it'll help with aim time and reload.

The point of the Centaruo B1 is to introduce you to the high alpha game play of these vehicles, you need to do everything to utilize the 25% damage boost at maximum accuracy,in pvp you get relegated to a heavy support role, you've got to do everything to make your gun talk for its your greatest asset, poor camo and size with poor gun depression limits bring this factor home. People were suggesting that flanking is an option with the ease these vehicles shift on the battlefield. Stay the fuck away from anything with an auto cannon you will get booted back to the garage in less than 5 seconds.

Centauro is kinda shit due to no camo but it's very fun when it works. I also recommend taking someone like JC or Freja instead of Sabrina because your camo is almost MBT level, meaning that they will spot you just sitting there and the 30% penalty reduction isn't worth it anyway. Frankly, my best battles in this thing has been as a mix of long range support and super speedy MBT, meaning that I snipe wherever possible and then swoop in for those delicious close range MBT booty shots in the late game.

You haven't lived until you've HEAT'ed the ass of several Challenger tanks who thought they were safely engaging your MBTs in the end game. I got clan invites after doing that and saving the team, lel.
