B-29 'Doc' flew for the first time since the 50s yesterday, following a lengthy restoration.

Fun fact about the B-1B - the little canards aft of the nose aren't control surfaces; they're kind of the opposite - they 'sense' tiny changes in the air currents and feed this back to the main control surfaces to smooth out the ride when it's flying supersonic at low level.

Of course is could, bi-planes managed just fine. The question is with modern wing technology and our understanding of lift why would this be necessary to build?
