Who on his sane mind would play this?

From the site:

"If you die in this game, you can never play again. Every move you make can be your last one. Enemy bullet, Infected’s bite, starvation, friend’s betrayal - danger lurks around every corner. Are you ready to face the most intense and authentic experience in your life?"

"When the enemy is defeated, you decide his fate. Forgive, humiliate, finish off, take everything he has – it’s your choice. Saved life of some loser? Take them captive and make them work off. They will do everything to be free again. No other game will give you this feeling of power over other people."

"Love aggressive play but don’t want to spend hours tracking the enemy down? Land in hot spots and set your own rules there. Like peaceful way of solving problems? Make safe sorties instead. Choose your own style of play."

"Travel around the world together with friends in a mobile base. Craft bodykits for your truck to reach even the most out-of-the-way areas. Create your own unique safe place, full of food and other stuff to survive in this cruel world."

I guess some companies take the term "killing off the playerbase" quite literally, games with permadeath can be fun but what this game is trying to sell is simply shitty gamedesign disguised as being innovative/new.

It's certainly not being disguised as new; this is a mechanic that has popped up for decades. Most notable example from my past is pre-CU Jedi in Star Wars: Galaxies. you kill them, they are dead and gone, forever. Hundreds upon hundreds of hours of game play on a single character erased. Most hated it but a choice few thought it was pretty cool. I'm betting this game will actually do ok in a niche market.

There is a huge difference between permadeath as in your progress gets deleted/you have to restart and permadeath as in once you die you don´t get to play again, gg money down the drain.

The first one can be working in certain game genres (most notably dungeon crawlers like binding of isaac) but the 2nd one is simply shitty game design, especially for a multiplayer-game.

So a single person using an aimbot can cause hundreds of dollars + thousands of hours spent to disappear in mere minutes?
This game would make EA blush all the way to their ankles.

Ganging up on other players for permakilling with flipping off and urination too? It's an impotent basement dweller's power fantasy come true! I can almost smell the class through my monitor.
