Now anyone can get ripped!

[Special] Ripper Patton

So the current rent-a-tank event in the SEA server is the Patton KR. And anyone can have a go in this and break the match-maker by just earning 15,000 EXP. Great marketing ploy WG, at the expense of everyone else.

Now I have no problems with these rental tank events, it's a decent means of giving everyone a chance to try out the tank for themselves before deciding the purchase it. But i do have a problem with how this affects everyone else in the process.

What do I mean?

The fact that you can rent this tank just by playing in any tier V-X tank and earn the required amount of EXP brings some problems.

First, most of those players may have only gotten to tier V or VI. They play a few games, and suddenly find a tier VIII medium tank with a tiger decal on it. Why not test it out? Here's the problem: they've only ever experienced at most fighting tier VII and possibly VIII. They've only just started to learn the ropes on how to play this game and fight other tanks. The Patton KR does not get limited match making, so these players are going to run into big tier X heavy tanks, agile tier X medium tanks and deathly tier X TDs and get slammed by tier X SPGs.

Second, the fact that you can get this tank playing in any tank means some players may not have an American medium tank crew that has been sufficiently trained or experienced, OR WORSE they're not aware of or understand the mechanics of premium tanks where you can assign a normal crew of the same nation and class into them, and they go buy a fresh 50%-70% crew into it and roll out to battle.

Now there are of course some players who do have a sufficiently trained USA medium tank crew, and have some prior experience fighting in a tier VIII-X match in a medium tank. They'll probably do fine in that case.

I'm not saying that we can't have these rent-a-tank events. I just wish they'd adjust the requirements a bit to target a specific bunch of players who could benefit from trying out these tanks and then buy one. This would be more productive i feel since you'd get players with USA medium tanks and could have a tier 8 premium that would boost their credit income and crew training. I'm just saying...

Preferably, it would go something like this:

OBJECTIVE: Earn 15,000 EXP across any number of battles

CONDITION: Random, 7v7 (Unranked/Ranked) or Stronghold battles only

  Available once per day only

Tier VI or higher USA medium tanks only (i'd limit it to tier 8 and up but that would be kind of limiting)

I've had a go in the Patton KR btw, and its a decent tank but I had the benefit of having a very experienced USA MT crew with up to 4 skills (6sense, BIA etc). I may be leaning towards buying one for myself, but not without some more experience in it.

I'm not even surprised that the title was a play on words. Very punny.

NA had the same thing with the Mutz & Patton rentals. It's not the end of the world since both sides will have rental newbies. The best thing to do when the time arrives for is to queue up tier 9 HT's with 100% AP, partake in retardation, laugh, and enjoy the credit profits. Don't worry.

Im happy rentals dont happen on EU (yet) . Or am I? I mean, it should be EZ farming for any tier 9 tank like the E50 or T-54 and some extra snacks for fast tier 10s. Even by playing a pref MM of yours like the FCM or IS6 you benefit tremendously.

Its also (theoretically) a good time to grind semi-stock T9s or simply grind shitty tier 8s you wouldnt want to face T10 in.

I used the first few days of rentals to grind my tier 7's actually, I saw only one or two tier nine battles every fifty or so games.

I'm not against the idea of rentals, but I do find it annoying when an entire team is composed of one type of tank.  Easy damage to farm though, just accept your win rate that day won't be as balanced as usual.

I got my KR by accident.

And boy is it shit.

I'd rather just play my Super Pershing or T-34-3, at least they don't have to see tier 10s, I see tier 10s just about every game in the kR.

I think your points are flawed. Sure players who haven't experience tier 8 before are going to get beat up, but no one is forcing them to play it. If they aren't having fun then they can just go back to their other tanks after a few battles.

I remember the first day with the Mutz rentals when there were something like 13 of them on each side. It was like whenever they give out a gift tank at lower tiers, or tier 6 back in the days of confrontation mode when everyone ran around in the Hellcat and KV-1S.

I think the rentals are a great idea. There's nothing to stop the noobs from outright buying a tier 8 premmie anyway, but if they try one for a day and get smashed every game, maybe some of them will not be so keen to buy a tier premmie?

So I hold out the hope that, in the long run,  rentals may result in there being less tier 8s driven by people who shouldn't be in that tier.

Yeah I don't see what the appeal for these tanks (M46, Mutz) are. They don't add anything notable to the game aside from putting on too much lipstick/being fedoras on tracks.

I guess pubbie logic is: The higher the #'er > the more sealclubbier/funner it is = flawless logik

Never mind the fact that tier 8's meet tier 10's which are operated by the best players in W.o.T and "tear 8's" have sub 200 pen against things like E5's or E-100's

My 907 feels like a E5 when playing against those things.
