Greifer 1 Share Posted June 8, 2016 I really enjoy playing the Germany TDs, but needed a hand in what role the bigger bruiser types play. Was running them like a sniper found the game works better with them rolling with the heavies in more of a support role. Not sure though easily flanked, is there a more middle ground style to play that works better? Or, continue trial and error?
iLawless 3 Share Posted June 8, 2016 If you get a tier 9 MM with Jagdtiger you can roll with the heavies. Depends on the map ofc, hide your lower plate and enemies will have hard time penning you. Just try to stay close to your team and avoid getting flanked. That gun will shred heavies like butter. Just check the enemy team comp and decide if its better for you to stay and camp or can you get safely in the city with heavies or will you get shot to the sides. Remember arty will love you aswell. In tier 10 mm I used to mostly just support the team and snipe with the awesome gun jagdtiger has. (one of the best guns in the game imo). Jagdpanzer E100 is even better armored and you should mainly go with the heavies. Maybe the more experienced guys can give you more info, but this is how I played. noob_tanker 2 Share Posted June 8, 2016 This tank shines with the top gun. You can play it as sniper or get in hull down position for close encounters, depending upon the map. I had some amazing games in it before selling it for next bigger tank. If you can make use of rate of fire and higher alpha damage, then you can deal some serious damage to enemy tanks. Always stay with other tanks. Try to get arty safe. The shell velocity is amazing for AP shells, its pretty good at sniping or hitting weak spots of super heavies. Also premium amo is apcr with even faster shells. Also try to download high damage replays from wotreplay website and see how other players managed to get more out of it. I think vBaddict can be even better for that because many of the wotreplays games are that odd-one-out-game where some 800wn8 guy got super lucky, while vBaddict is regularly used for stat-tracking by better players. Ollie Tabooger 614 Share Posted June 8, 2016 From my experience playing both on other accounts, the JT is actually a lot like the JT88 - your gun has to always be firing, and if you have to turn to engage the enemy, you're too far forward. Go with the heavies if you can and hang behind the mediums if there aren't enough heavies to confidently meatshield for you. The last thing you want is to be alone because you're big, soft outside of hulldown, slow to fire, and slow to turn. It's more effective than people give it credit for because they either try to yolo or they sit back all game. It is, however, disastrous if everyone dies before you get there. Greifer 1 Author Share Posted June 8, 2016 Thank you for the responses, will check out the replays on both sites as well as try out the advice you all gave. See how it goes and good hunting to everyone.
MagicalFlyingFox 1,022 Share Posted June 8, 2016 To me, it depends on the map and matchmaking in terms of team composition. For some maps, I roll with the heavies and try to keep as many tanks in front of my gun as i can. Given that it has no turret, i tend to sit back more and keep the firing lane instead of pushing up into a corner. That being said, It can still work corners against pubbies, all that is required is sidescraping and popping out after the enemy shoot. It has enough gun arc for you to quickly return to an autobounce position. If I'm not rolling with the heavies, its all about finding the firing lanes to shoot down. Like in arctic region, if my team has a rather large amount going south, i will go north and simply look towards the medium tanks while hull down and keep the gun going. Sadly the superstructure can't really handle top tier gold rounds and even JT AP rounds if the pen rolls a bit high, so it is recommended that you angle your tank if you aren't firing and you know they're spamming gold rounds. Not sure what the meta is like in NA with gold rounds, but it is extremely common in ASIA. The Japanese normally bring 0 normal rounds, so they don't even press 2.

Deusmortis 4,618 Share Posted June 9, 2016 I always found it most fun and most effective to play it just slightly short of an assault TD. It can definitely frontline if the proper hull down opportunities exist, and you aren't facing too many high pen guns. The thing still has one of the best overall guns in the game. If not frontlining, just be sure you aren't far enough back where a light/med can get around you. You're powerless in that situation.
