Lakeville - 24 So little of the map is usable. The valley is useless. The center road is pretty much useless except for getting a couple shots into the city no and again with big TDs sitting on the corners next to the base. City is basically the only place to play and there isnt much room to maneuver there.
Malinovka - 33 I just don't enjoy this map, a long forever climb up a hill just for there to be almost nothing there with arty having very easy shots. TDs and other crap camping in the back after youve killed what little if anything went to the hill. Many games on Malinovka just feels like Im wasting my time.

Westfield - 31 I actually like this map quite a lot if I get it when in one of my meds. And if it is one of the meds with good gun depression, it's usually a dmg farm. Also in scouts, I rarely get less than 4k spotting dmg on this map, so there is stuff  to do for everyone. A bit iffy if you are in a slow heavy, but I tend to avoid those anyway because reasons... the sky one.

Letting arty be a dominant factor in map evaluations seems kinda dumb to me. We all know it's stupid game design, but bashing open maps because of arty is how we arrived at world of corridors to begin with.

Malinovka - 35 - one of the original and best maps. One of maybe two maps where a LT can abuse camouflage, terrain, and view range from multiple areas. TDs have multiple lanes of fire and fast heavies/meds have real choices aboutwhere they go. The once in a while YOLO field push is good for a laugh also. The second they removed Assault on the the mid ridge and moved the encounter circle to the field this became the best map.

Mountain Pass - 21 - there is no finesse to this map.  Load up a flank and yolo it. The hills mean you are safe from the other flanks so once you win your flank you have free reign to cap or pincer one of the other two corridors.

Stalingrad - 3 take everything that is good about Himmelsdorf and remove it.  Same with Kharkov, I am not sure which I like least.  Lts have no role, arty can shoot everywhere and the map is wide enough that if a flank is won the random fucking side roads make it all but impossible for a Maus or ST-I e.g. to safely disengage to come back to base in time for a reset.

Airfield - 6 - one relevant choke point in the north which if you are aggressive opens you up to arty and TD's camping ridges. LT's can choose to be mostly irrelevant on the far side of the strip lighting the tanks you already knew were there or try to vision the middle with no cover whatsoever.  It is also similar to Lakeville where half your team always wants to camp from the bases where they are all but irrelevant.

On a side note, I wonder how the changed maps would fair against their previous versions if they were included.

 

Sev 2.0 was clearly better than Sev 1.0. 

 

What about the other map changes?

 

I personally loved the original Redshire much better than the newer incarnations; same with Murovanka ( the best version would be old east of map with new west of map). The same goes for El Halluf, I guess I just miss the old concealment that was completely removed from these three maps.

El Halluf - 19-3=16 It's Komarin with sand; they've fixed it so many times, and even after getting the corridor treatment it's still boring.
Pilsen - 21+1=22 I don't really like this map per se (It's literally Stalingrad... with more buildings and less steep riverbanks), but I do want to point out the 1-2-3 lines are a good idea if you make a city map. The warehouses have multiple entry points, and a decent platoon will let the battle engage, then whip around the blind side and start munching hp for free, since teams usually only engage one side. A city map with more than one of these would actually be... interesting.

This is my first foray into the map debate, and bloody hell are there a lot of bad ones. I'm not going to vote on maps no longer in the game, because there's no fucking point, nor will I vote for low tier maps (Mittengard, Widepark) because, again, what's the fucking point?

Prokhorovka - 17 - 3 = 14: Again, another map completely reliant on teammates if you end up in the wrong tank, like a heavy or a camo-less medium. Also, it needs road signs pointing people away from the 1/2 lines to the 3-0 lines. So many fucktards go 1/2, especially from the North when you literally have to be losing horrendously before you can even shoot anything. Any map which empowers reds and allows them to dictate how it plays out is a fucking travesty.
Redshire - 33
Mines - 6 - 3 = 3: Why is this map not limited to tier 6 and below? Pointless in higher tier games, makes multiple tank classes reliant of other tank classes (heavies on meds, TD's on heavies etc.) and is cancer for getting hit by arty. Also massively imbalanced spawns and the easiest map in the game to cap out on Encounter mode. Fuck off.

El Halluf - 16 + 1 = 17: Why the hate for this? It's reasonably arty safe and dynamic in the northwest, and it's very easy to consistently farm 4k damage plus regardless of tank. Yeah. it can be a pain to push out once you've won the fight, but it allows any tank to be useful pretty much, and has decent arty cover. Rest of the map is pointless, but a lot of maps are like that too.

Because some of the maps that are no longer in the game are far superior to the shit that they've been churning out recently. I liked Northwest, I thought it was a much better map than half of the other new shit they've added, Severogorsk while earning it's nickname in it's first implementation was actually pretty good after they fixed it, ditto Dragons Ridge, ditto Pearl River.

What I want them to do is realise that not all maps are suitable for all tiers. They've gone some way to fixing that with the recent shake up but not far enough. For example everyone's pet hate, Mines. That map has zero business being any higher than battle tier 7, by the same token it's a total shitfest for the low tier meta as well. Make it see 3-7 and it would be pretty decent.

Take the last version of swamp before the current one. Total campfest at any tier higher than 8 but not actually terrible at 8 and below. Widepark is actually a nice map and I think it's also fine up to tier 8 rather than 6 It's also probably one of the few maps that should have Tiers 1 - 3 on it as it's nice and small yet there is enough terrain variation  to make it interesting without devolving into a brawl for the hill like Mines does. Hidden village had a lot of wasted space but it was only tier tens that got super campy. Pref 8s was always viable.

 

TLDR; Small maps don't suit high tiers. Who knew.
