Whoah now. You've never rolled a triple TOG toon? it's hilarious, 6000 DPM and 4200 HP at tier 6. Anything in front of you just melts. Of course, anything not in front of you might as well be on the dark side of the moon, but we can't have everything.

Id still rate the Patriot as one of the better/best tier 8 premiums. The DPM allows it to do quite a bit, and frankly Ive never had a bad time with the gun handling. To that end, I also have a nearly 5 skill crew and I use food with all the gun buffs possible, maximizing DPM and minimizing dispersion. Playing SHs, Im 100% of the time going to be either in the Patriot, Defender, or Lorrain 40t. I actually get much more aggravated playing the Defender more than anything else, due to the lack of handling period

I never really liked the Patriot, in spite of it being statistically one of my best tanks. Picked it up again and I just hate it. It was a tank designed to crap on T6/7 while retaining usefulness in T9/10. You hardly ever see T6/7 anymore and T10 is littered with powercreeped turds. And when you're finally top tier you still get outraded by some idiot in an O-I who doesn't give a shit about you being hulldown. 

It's not really a problem with the tank itself, more with how the game's decaying around it. 

I don't have the courage to take out the Lowe anymore. I'd rather keep my fond memories of it.

Since it got buffed to have -10 gun depression, a turret that 's better than it's tier 10 brothers, an upper plate that resists Tier 10 silver with gun depression/angling, 100mms of side armour, plus actual mobility?

I guess that's the magic that comes from being a paper tank with iffy numbers to begin with.

It used to be a generally inferior KT that got a large gun mantlet in compensation for terrible mobility and bad DPM.

It's been quite a good tank for some time now for precisely these reasons, and...@lavawing forgot to mention 400m base VR.  And it still has a high pen laser with really nice handling.

It was trash once. Then they buffed gun depression and side armor and it was solid. Then they buffed mobility, upper plate, and gun depression again because $$PREMIUMTANKSBRAH$$. And now it's back to unplayable because who the fuck wants to fight +2 tier tanks all day every day even with a good tier 8.

Good: 11

Solid: 33

Unplayable: 45

And I haven't been buying shit tanks for years now. Pretty sad when half the tanks you've gotten over the years you won't even use because they're so miserable to play.

I’d be interested to know what tanks you’ve put under each criteria.

Did you base it against how they rate against others in their tier (e.g. Lowe is good), or against the current MM (e.g. Lowe is bad)?

Rated them based on tier. I barely play my tier 8s anymore but I'd still call the Lowe "good". Some I could shift up or down a category because it's iffy. It's all subjective, of course, but the rundown is something like:

Good: Pz 38H, T-127, T-15, Pz B2, T-28 F-30, 105 LeFH, Thunderbolt, T-34-85M, Pz IVS, Type 64, Lowe.

Interesting that you’d rate the Pz IVS as good, and the pudel, AC4 and Cromwell as just solid.

I’d also rate the e-25 as good - abuse those camo mechanics and pew pew away!

chuck the t-25 as solid, good hp and straight line speed  doesn’t put it in the nope category.

AC4 is pretty bad since it trades everything to have a 17 pdr with gun depression, but even loses accuracy for it. The IV S at least has DPM, accuracy, bloom, and turret armour.

T-25 has good raw stats but terrible soft stats. Good players will hate it because of how handicapped it is at reliably putting out damage.

I like the Valentine II. Full camo crew, full APCR, always top tier. You're kind of at the mercy of your team as far as wins go, but it's a decent sneaky bastard kind of tank for prowling around in low tier battles (Soviet light tank trainers being what they are).

I still have the regular Valentine in the garage - with somehow a higher win rate - so maybe I'm just used to that sort of plodding playstyle.

It's the poor man's B2. In all fairness the armor used to be alright before everybody started slinging gold from seeing the damage log.

It's pretty awful, but the armor is mostly 60-80mm, which should do fine against T2/3 and some T4 lights. APCR is obviously a problem though, and even the protection it does have is full of holes. Anything can pen a Valentine with a shot to the mantlet, LFP, or lower sides.

It's really miserable to play though, the amount of sacrifices it makes to have perfect MM is more than I'm comfortable with. Playing anything that's intentionally gimped to the point where many of the tanks you fight are better in literally every way is just depressing, regardless of shallow rewards like MM/credits/xp.
