Why so many TDs now?

Recommended Posts

Haven't played in a while, there are so many tds and superheavies now and it seems like most sit way back. How do you counter this meta as my mediums are just getting blasted whenever I try to push now.

Superheavies got buffed. French TDs got buffed. Skorpion G got introduced as OP premium TD. Death Star is going to get removed so everybody is grinding that line too. That is why there are so many superheavies and TDs now.

It's kind of crazy I'm regularly seeing 6 or 7 tds a side at tier 10.

For NA it is because of the free prem tank damage missions. People are too retarded to get more than 1 shot of damage so they think high alpha tds will make it easier to complete (in actuality it doesnt).

TDs generally do higher damage, plus the campaigns got buffed a bit.  I'm sure everyone is trying to grind out that Stug IV.

high pen means you don't have to worry as much.

And yet, most of the server is still too retarded to make them work.

Basically superheavys, retards play SH but they can't pen enemy SH so they switch to TDs (and then to arty to kill TDs but now WG made the switch to arty not very satysfying to the average potato).

An e-50 JT combo was great for me (but well i have no jap tanks, and hate playing tier X, so that's that.

More armor in circulation means the need for more pen to counter it. A more expensive game economy means the tactic of using high-pen guns to avoid having to spam as much code 22 is an easy fix. And otherwise, the passive sniper role is simple and relatively low-risk. Better pen and accuracy theoretically means less likelihood of getting trolled by RNG.

The high pen on TDs is quite attractive now. If you're playing a low pen tank at tiers 6-8 you're going to run into enemies that you have to get lucky to pen even with side shots.

Attractive as in useless? No turret no play.

I had a great time today and with the help of Crab understand the meta a lot better. There's so much more emphasis on defense now rather than aggression and it really threw me off at first. From what I saw today being able to just survive is huge now, something I've always been terrible at. I mostly picked a rather defensive position near the usual heavy brawl areas (I was in a heavy all but two games today) and didn't really move up until I knew we had an overmatch. If we did it was pretty standard brawling, trying to be more conservative than I normally do though. If we didn't i'd just sit back and take any free damage I could but really was just using my presence to maintain map control for Crab and TheDivision, while crab would be in a t10 light and Division was in the tier 10 Swedish td. Since the td is so maneuverable as long as I could survive in a nice spot he could just decimate people when they tried to dig me out. The biggest struggle and where I messed up the most was being too aggressive, leading to me dieing early or being trapped in a bad position. In 24 games I had a survival rate of about 62% where when I used to play I would consider surviving 30% a good day. The game is less about making good plays now, but rather letting others make mistakes when they are forced to push you. I admittedly still need to work on my solo play though as all but 2 games today were in a 3 man platoon.

You can't stop the heavy + scout + s tank platoon in the current meta.  Use vision and a heavy to control and deny space.  The s tank to farm damage and punish sloppy plays.  Playing too survive into the late game will earn you more wins and damage.

Multiple days now, crab and I have been able to pull 75% wins in tier x using this strategy.

The implications of the strategy are pretty obvious, and there is no doubt that these are not the days of medium tank aggression that we are living in.  However, a platoon with two 3K unicum and a very solid blue pulling 75% WR is not unprecedented.  I think the premise of TD backing up a dug in tick with flexible vision probably would have worked in any meta.
