RX or GTX - low end 1080p

Recommended Posts

I want to replace my old GPU - Gigabyte R7 250 1GB version with a newer one.My monitor is LG 23MP68 (supports freesync with 75Hz, 1080p). WoT is the only game I play consistently. I have two options: 560+freesync or GTX 1050Ti.  Which one should I choose: higher performance with 1050ti or amd combo?

I have Cooler Master 550W power supply... I can't remember is it CX550 or something like that... It's semi modular bronze 80. Not the greatest quality, but so far worked fine with everything.

It's running paired with i5-6400, OC @ 4,4GHz

Honestly said since OP owns a freesync monitor I'd DEFINITELY go with AMD in this regard. Is the 560 the highest you can go, just asking informatively.

yes and no... Yes, I can go with 1050ti, and no if it means 1060 or 570. There is not much room for  that kind of stuff when you are getting paid 800€ per month, lol

From a price/performance PoV a used GTX970 is the best! Please take a look:

1060 and 570 start around 200€ in the EU atm, the RX560 is wasted money even at 100€ and for the ~150€ you pay for a 1050Ti you get a used 970 that is around 40% when overclocked.

Edit: used R9 290 (X) or 390s will bring your PSU to the limit or even over it in the long run.

Where i live 470 is more expensive than 10606gb thanks to etherfarms.

This is pretty universal right now. They've come down a bit, but no where near MSRP at all

I paid $214 for my strix 480 last summer.  These prices are fucking insane.

MSRP for the RX 580 8GB is supposed to be $230 USD. The 570 4GB, $170

A GTX 1050 ti is so much faster than a RX 560 they aren't even comparable.  A GTX 1050 ti will average 90-100 FPS at 1920x1080 on the Maximum graphics preset.  The RX 560 gives 20% less FPS at the same graphics setting and resolution in WoT.

When I tested similar replays in WoT 9.20 and Sandbox, the sandbox replays averages about 10% less FPS.  If you want to maintain 75 FPS at a higher graphics setting in WoT when the HD maps, I doubt the RX 560 will do it.  Also, if you do get a RX 560, make sure to get the 4 GB version for the upcoming HD maps.

Right now on newegg germany RX 570 is discounted to 201€ (regular around 220-250€), RX 580 4GB 218€ and 8gb starting at 260€.

For comparison: Asus Rog Strix Radeon 8GB - 258€

in my country,  the same card from reputable seller is 450€.

It's fking amazing.
