[18/12/2018] Minor changes to signature images

Recommended Posts

Hello!

A few minor changes were made to the signature images today. Throughout the 6 years that WoTLabs has been providing signature images, they never actually contained the URL of the website, relying only on people asking other users where they got their signatures from. In order to do a bit of extra advertising and let users know where to get their signature images, the WoTLabs url was added in small text at the bottom right corner of the signature.

This required the player's position in a clan, clan image and clan tag to be moved up, therefore the clan tag and clan position are now in the same line.

Also, due to the lengthening nature of the clan positions, with the longest now counting at 20 characters long, the position will be displayed in the signature in abbreviated form, normally with those used in the military:

  • Commander = CDR
  • Executive Officer = XO
  • Recruitment Officer = RO
  • Intelligence Officer = IO
  • Combat Officer = CO
  • Personnel Officer = PO
  • Junior Officer = JO
  • Quartermaster = QM
  • Deputy = DY
  • Private = PVT
  • Recruit = RCT
  • Reservist = RES

That is all, cheers!

Hey, so I don't ever really come on here for anything but see some announcements.  But this is regarding to signatures.

this is after many times, trying to apply wotlab signatures for WoT official forums, was wondering if I still missed something that was fixed.

That might be a problem with their forum software. I poked around a bit and it looks like people are having issues with other images as well.

Edit: Alright, after some testing, I narrowed down the problem to HTTPS. If I try to link the signature image using an unsecured connection (HTTP), it works fine, but if I change it to HTTPS then the error occurs.

I'm gonna see if it's something that can be fixed on my end or if WG's forum software (which is the same as ours, but very outdated) is not handling this properly.

So the workaround to this is using http:// instead of https:// when adding the image to the WoT forum signature.

^^ there you go already @_Zero___

I posted on a problem in the wotlabs issue reporting forum that I *thought* was a different issue (since I am definitely using "http://" URLs).  It turns out it is the same issue, and there are some new observations that might help people who are trying to get their wotlabs stats into their signature on WG forums.

  • The issue does not occur (for me) with the white background signature image.
  • The issue does occur (for me) with all the other signature images (black, minimalist, custom).
  • The "other" signature images are all automatically redirected to "https://".  The white background image is not redirected.
  • The WG forum signature form seems to be doing a validation on the URL that fails if the URL uses https.

I think this means that a workaround is to use the white background image until this gets worked out.

This should now be fixed. Thanks for the report!
