WG needs to get their shit together for damage blocked. It isn't rocket science

Recommended Posts

Any non-damaging hit should be counted as blocked by armour and/or ricochet. Damage applied to modules AKA tracks, gun, vision device is damage caused, just not HP damage - should be counted as dmg blocked because vehicular HP isn't taken off, rather you just lose module durability. Many times, the shot passes through the module anyways, and hits the underlying hull, and gets blocked too.....makes sense to just pile this as dmg blocked. I am very sure life-saving throw on tracks isn't 1OO% as claimed by WG mechanics explained, that is horseshit. MAYBE if shot properly, like track wheel/roller/sprocket. But that shit doesn't comprise the whole track that can be hit, and suspension is defined by whole track. Because you see track shots all the time do nothing, not even spin out the enemy or turn their tracks yellow as damaged. Spaced armour panels outside of tank decal, like conqueror / super pershing, sometimes get hit and penetrated, and the shot passes on through wide of the vehicle not turning out to be a hit - and it is not counted as blocked dmg. This again, is horseshit. HE hits, dealing O, absolutely O dmg even if damaging gun/tracks/vision blocks should be counted as dmg blocked.

In Skill4 recent obj 277 tech tree showcase, his first game in IS3 he blocks 3 consecutive T44  1OOmm  33Odmg HE shells in a row, and none are counted as dmg blocked. No modules turn yellow. Wth? Damage blocked, should be damage blocked, the fucking armour is blocking HE from applying dmg.

I just had a game against an IS3 / WZ12OG  in my 11O, and took 5 non damaging hits, 2 ricochets and 3 non penetrating. And my damage blocked was 39O total. What the fuck?

This is a pretty black and white sort of deal. Either vehicular HP are stripped off, or aren't.

I'm getting the feeling he just says whatever immediately comes to mind without really reconsidering when writing. It causes him to talk like shit. I'm not exactly innocent but I meant immediately as in with zero afterthought. And while you can say that I do it with zero, I assure you I do indeed use an amount of afterthought even though my posts sound like mashed potato english since I keep jumping between ideas and referring to the previous lines vaguely within 1 sentence.

I am getting the feeling, you just follow me around hoping to goad me into posting to incite or cause forum unrest. Not to call you one, but to say you seem to want to be one, these are the actions of an annoying shit. For whatever your reasons. But I stand by everything I say, or I wouldn't say it.

I don't know when that changed, but I SWEAR... Track Damage used to count as blocked for missions...

Correct, but there were quite some complains that it made blocking too easy & stuff. Also you could rack up some insane blocked damage through this.

Old system was pretty close to what OP wants. All non-damaging hits used to count for blocked damage (including those who hit external modules like tracks optics & gun). Then it got changed, can't recall the reason anymore albeit it could be to cull down some of the insane blocked damage you could see. Non-damaging HE didn't count even back then for blocked damage tho..

Now only shots that your armor stopped are counted, making alot of the blocked damage missions harder to do. So at least skill plays into it a bit more now if you want to do it consistently.

Doing what OP suggest would once again see some mad blocking numbers back tho, but then it should include an overhaul of any blocked damage mission to triple or quadruple of what they are now to keep a similar difficulty. Because making every shot that did nothing count for damage blocked will make for some very silly situations.

But the whole premise of switching to HE rounds, to attempt to deal some damage to something otherwise in an untouchable position, that still is armour blocking damage being applied. The underlying mechanics are armour too thick, not allowing damage to seep through.  IE:  hulldown IS7, an opponent switches to HE and hits the IS7 right in the face. Chances are you are still dealing zero, unless a huge bore TD and will get that ''that one didn't go through''  or  ''we didn't penetrate their armour''

Perhaps shots that pass through tracks/gun/optics and don't strike the tank hull or turret after and miss - these can be omitted. Because armour isn't used at all.
