The ARL 44 is the best tier 6 tank in the game. Change my mind

Recommended Posts

There is really no comparing this tank to any other tank at tier 6. The 105, if it was any better, would be overpowered. On the ARL it is simply serviceable. With 223 base pen, 330 alpha damage, and a base RoF of 5.6 it has everyone else beat on pen, and almost everyone else beat on damage. The gun has in class dispersion values that compare almost favorably to the 122 on the KV-85, another gun that shoots stuff. It has armor that bounces almost anything a tier 4 can throw at it, as long as they don't shoot the turret, and it can actually sidescrape (no joke here it can). In the mobility department the ARL clearly outpaces other moving tanks like the O-I and Churchill VII. With a blistering top speed of 37 kph and 16 power to weight it outpaces tanks carefully selected for being slow. Truly a powerhouse of tier 6, only the venerable Churchill game carrier can compete with this stale baguette shooting monster. Also why the hell does this thing get a bullshit gun? Like what the actual fuck Wargaming? It just deletes tier 4s and 5s. I might have to keep this tank for "3 marking".

Everything about the tank is unreliable

One game you'll have 12/15 hits and an effortless carry. Next you'll go for 5/12, and 3 of those hits were track shots, while also getting heat derped through the face by a kv1.

Oh totally, the gun needs to be fully aimed and the armor is not very good at all. I've found that playing it as a fat ass TD instead of a heavy lets you damage farm tier 5 scrubs like nothing else. Simple camouflage abuse and patience makes this thing absolutely ridiculous. It is not a stand up brawler like a T-150 or KV-85, but it makes a monstrous second line support tank.

Cromwell, Type 64, T-34-85M.

The ARL just gets left behind when it comes to mobility.

Oh come on now, lets not bring silly little things like facts into this. I compared it to fast(ish) tanks. I could have compared it to the TOG II. :p

Its tier 6 though...

I would think Vk 30.01 P is generally superior.

In relation, ARL44 has strike of 330 which is extremely potent, a reliable 3HK, just a little short of 2HK but with a little luck, 2HK. Armor is effectively a non factor considering the armor penetration of ARL. ARL has limited armor protection.

Accuracy of Vk 30.01 P is significantly superior.

VK 30.01 P is significantly faster.

As my first (and so far only) 3-marked tank, the VK 30.01P automatically defaults to best tier 6 tank in the game.

so, am I supposed to deny this because t-34-85 was my first 3 mark?

Like Truck said, it is pretty unreliable. Great when it works, but otherwise a derp when it doesn't

I like that it has good HP/T for a heavy, and the top speed beats KV85 or M6,  it just has terrible terrain resists.

It all comes down to the gun,  and the nice gun dep. The aim-time, accuracy, disp stats really make it frustrating. But 330 alpha makes you smile when you connect, though expensive to use. Despite the APCR dmg boost, KV85 still has more DPM

It only has armour on the hull, the turret nerf hurt it badly. The turret flanks used to be 50mm, near impossible to overmatch now they are 30mm basically paper. The tank can be damaged through its tracks too, frontally or through the sides even at silly acute angles. Really limits the ability to side scrape.

T3485M bait.

I'd rather mount the special 10.5 on the inconspicuous ARLV tank destroyer, sit in the back and snipe with better gun stats.

Fixed your 0's. -H

I recently bought this thing back, since I enjoyed grinding through it a year or so ago.

105mm + full APCR is a potent combination. 223 pen, 330 alpha on an 8.4 second reload (Rammer, Optics, Vents, Food, Bia) at tier 6 hurts.

The gun handling is derpy, but not unworkably so.

Mobility is decent. The tank tends to go 30-35 most of the time. Doesn't take too long to get up to speed. Slow to turn, but again, not unworkably so.

Armor... Yeah, it's French. Don't count on it.

Overall, an unusual, but quite good tank.

Also, the mark reqs are hilariously low. 16 battles at 1,431 DPG puts me at 48.03% marks.
