Bourrasque, Tier 8 Premium MT (Marathon)

Admittedly based on a small sample, I would have said a bit above the 10/15 for goods, but yeah, nice summary. It can carve up at close range - even corridors can be used as long as you have distractions around you. Pop out, blap for lots, get safe. Plus the mobility of this allows you to easily choose where you want to create that numbers overmatch. Eg a 2 vs 2 with one enemy <700 is basically gg once you yolo in as the third gun. At range you need to be able to leverage the vision of this - which again is excellent. If you know your spots you'll get one or even two free shots from camo then be able to get back to cover safely. Naturally re exposing from the same spots will get you smacked, but 20s in this thing is half a map away...

In many ways it's a tank with extreme strengths but quirky awkwardness. Different combos obviously, but a bit like a 416. If you can work around the awkwardness and know how to bring the strengths to bear, it's a beast.

It's the limit of the mobility-firepower-survivability scoring, you don't get the entire picture. Off the back of my hand I rated the Defender with the same scoring measure and it only came out to ~10.5/15. It doesn't capture the sheer potential of that thing leveraging its armor and gun to its max to win games. I debated rating the mobility on it higher but the traverse is really bad when you're moving at speed, which is almost all the time. The gun is really good, but we're spoiled for choice in the tier (Lorraine, spaghetti tank) and it has some factors limiting it like the pen so I couldn't place it higher than it already is.

It's certainly an awkward min-max'd tank to use, but goddamn is it fun to play. that 360 alpha is really scary to anybody not looking your way :P

Still tempted to pick it up as it looks like something pretty unique in playstyle and is potentially quite challenging.

I have it and have played it for around 60 games, I really enjoy it.  The gun is trash but as I am running vents and food I don't really notice the aim time on it.  What is more frustrating is getting spotted in it when sat still in bush not shooting which tends to happen a lot.  Might be my play but I doubt it.  Also, for some reason it seems to get a LOT of damaged turrets, probably because the turret is fooking massive.  Gun elevation is PITA as well.  But by and large I think its a balanced fun tank

This tank takes module damage like crazy. Often times when I get hit by someone I get set on fire/my turret jams/my engine is damaged/a crew member dies

Just 10 games, for two wins, so far...:notlikethis:

I think the only reason this tank may end up appearing statistically balanced is because even average players struggle in paper tanks. Good players are going to go on a rampage in this thing.

I also suspect I'd take this gun's superior soft stats over the Lorr. 40T's better hard stats at any distance.

You think this until you are:

A.) Sitting anywhere >200m away and you need to snipe someone so you wait for an eternity for your gun to shrink but then miss anyway because 0.42 accuracy
B.) trying to pick off tanks mid-late game but then you realise that you can't clip anyone since they're at 800+ health
C.) about to shotgun someone but then miss/bounce one of your shots because you have crappy accuracy/aimtime

Agreed, I'd take the Lorraine gun all things being equal. Got both over the weekend (Twitch prime for the Lorraine), so both are fresh in my mind. The Lorraine gun lacks alpha, intra-clip and the inter-clip can be a tad too long, but the gold pen and accuracy more than make up for this, and then it has 1200 potential on top of that.

It's hard playing either coming from the Progetto though . . .

Only played 4 or 5 games in it but I prefer it the Lorraine.  The quick double tap, faster reload, soft stats, small size and camo make it superior IMO to the Lorraine, the Lorraine feels too clunky for the current meta, it feels like a 50b.

Getting a quick 720 damage out with like a 20s reload feels far more practical for the current meta than 1300 damage in like 7.5s with like a 35s reload.

Games are too short, maps are too congested, tanks are too clumped up, opportunities are too breif for the Lorraine's clip to work IMO, you end up getting a couple of shots in the Lorraine most of the time at best, and then umming and ahhhing about going for the reload and being out the game for 35s or missing out on shots.

This thing just makes more sense to me, pop out, blap, blap, retreat, do it again in 20s.

Gun handling is a much of muchness, between the two, the Lorraine will be the better sniper of course, but popping out, stopping and aiming at stuff at medium to short the Bourrasque feels better to me, plus it can pseudo scout to a much larger to degree than the much larger, worse camoed Lorraine which feels much more squarely stuck in the support role.

This thing, despite its clear drawbacks, and potential annoyances, has massive potential IMO.

Against my better judgement, I fell for the marketing gimmick (Wargaming: You grinded so long, you might as well get it with the discount right?!). Played one battle, popped off 2749 damage and 4 kills. I am thinking I might never play it again so I don't "tank" my stats in it... lol

@ZXrage @Snoregasm2 I’m a big fan of the Lorraine and it’s well up amongst my most played tanks. But it literally has tier 6 gun handling. Not being able to snap shots with any realistic hope of the connecting... Also, my expectation when unloading a fully aimed clip at a stationary target at 350m and up is 1 pen 3 complete misses. The gun is derpy as fuck.

Eh, I know what you mean, but I think people are overrating the Bourrasque's gun a little, as it still is terrible 200m+. I agree that the Bourrasque is the better platform, but let me ask everyone in the thread this - would you rather have the Lorraine gun on the Bourrasque platform, with the 4 clip, accuracy, better gun dep and pen, or the current gun?

For me, it would be the Lorraine gun. It's just more flexible and useful in a greater number of situations.

@Snoregasm2 I’d rather have the Lorry’s hard stats with the Burlesque’s soft stats and no real down time after clipping. But that would be so OP (yet the Pog 46 exists).

My experience of the game is that gun soft stats trump hard stats. But different clip sizes... I honestly don’t have an answer.

I thought it was the aim time people have against it for sniping role more so than dispersion, but maybe I have misunderstood.

Well both...

Dispersion for first shot... aim time for second. To even get back to fully aimed you need 3-4s so your intra clip is impacted at range.

I guess I haven't played any legit sniper tanks yet, it doesn't feel much, if any, worse on aimed dispersion than anything else I've got at range. Aim time was definitely painful though. My play style is  not a back of the map style though. I am still working hard to curb my tomato yolo tendencies. :)

There are no real "legit" sniper tanks in WoT or at least not many. By far most of the vehicles that should have good accuracy, are also plagued by terrible soft stats or wierldy low shell velocity and more often then not, have guns that shoot uncomfortably high ballistic arcs resulting in a limited ability to hit moving targets. Not to even talk about those guns that just "do not behave" regardless of the platform they are on, having the L7, DCA45 and 88/L71 in mind in particular, though there are worse offenders in the game, which combine various factors, making a statistically great gun end up being a pile of shit in effect (thinking about the 90mm on Kanonenjagdpanzer and HWK12 especially or the 90mm on pre-light-reshuffle SPIC).

Those ain't "legit" snipers on paper, are they? I know what you mean though and that is exactly the point that was raised earlier: Final accuracy means not as much as one would assume at first glance and in fact, it means nothing at all, as long as other factors are not considered.

Lies, the Swedish bushtanks would like to have a word with you :doge:

That being said, final accuracy doesn't matter as much, especially with how RNG accuracy mechanics are, but with regards to this tank the biggest death knell to sniping is that the aim time is sooooo long, combined with the bloom after shot it makes for a very slow mag dump at range

Honestly Bourrasque gun because of the clip flexibility, clip speed and soft stats. At sort of sub 250m ranges it's basically blap blap, eff off, and that is half the HP of your average tier 8 gun.

With Lorraine it's like aim for ages, hit, wait for it, hit, wait for it.... ah the target has gone, do I reload now for like 35s? Meanwhile Bourrasque has relocated and already popped another two shots into someone.

Lorraine to me still feels like autoloaders from 2014, before TVPs, Progettos etc. slow clip speeds, bad gun handling and painfully long reloads. They just aren't meta anymore, its the same problem the Bat Chat is having.
