There's still like 10k online, the game's playerbase hasn't changed much in two years. There was that huge drop after 2016 but since then it's just hovered around the same numbers.

Map balance is as terrible as it was when 1.0 came out, t8-10 tank balance is probably even worse than you remember. Everything else is pretty much business as normal.

I had a lok on reddit and on wot forums and everyone seemd to be raging about wheeled vehicle... Maybe I'l try Armored warfare but that ship probably has sailed as well

The game has some serious issues, but over all Wargaming has done a lot of quality of life improvements. It's tanks, download it, if it pisses you off, uninstall it. If you have fun, stick around. Balance is more of a myth than Bigfoot, but most of the broken stuff you can get a hold of yourself. The playerbase is a little better than it was in 2016, but it isn't like it was in 2014. expect between 10k and 20k players at prime time.

They throw a lot more free stuff at you now than they used to do, like boosters and (if you play a lot) free premium tanks.

Fake CHAI exists with the OG core being effectively dead from tanks.

All the OG unicums are dead and have moved on from WoT to other games (i.e. War Thunder / Escape from Tarkov / etc).

The server is now run by teals/blues that outpace the dadicums that still play WoT.

Garbad returned for a brief moment but during his return placed WN8 as the holy metric as he can no longer win.

very much alive on EU. When lock down arrived in March 2020 server numbers for the following weeks easily went over 100,000 online every night. Summer was hot and staying at home restrictions lifted and numbers dropped back to 50,000 online. It will be interesting to see if the usual Autumn upswing occurs in 2020.

Also World of Tanks does well at Christmas if it is combined with a new nation line. The last time WG got their timing right with the Swedes at Christmas the EU server numbers jumped enormously.

If they get the Italian heavy line out at the same calendar month they got the Swedes out the numbers are likely to go up, if they mistime it then not so much.

As someone who recently dusted off his account after a 3 year hiatus, game feels pretty similar. The major differences are all the new maps and old map reworks since 2017 make it so my knowledge of THE SPOTS is pretty awful and I find myself unable to play as yolo aggressive as I prefer, dying early and out of position often.

That and it seems like there's way more tanks with invulnerable turrets and lots of obvious/easy hull down spots near the main flanks for the pubbies. Maybe that's just me not knowing the maps but sometimes it feels like it's harder to push.

Otherwise the itch is being scratched, you can still pew pew tanks and mostly feels like the same game, except I'm bad and having fun and not as frustrated.
