Growing up, one of my friends dad had a GNX and the '89 Firebird Pace Car with the same Turbo 6...They were kids dreams back then!!

Different engines. Firebird was 4.9 liter, Buick was 3.8 liter. At least the 3.8 could handle boost. That 4.9 struggled to stay together under load. My 4.9 was NA, and it was pretty good that way. 6500 rpm all day long

All of these things you guys are posting are undergunned and underarmored. Great speed though, and with the low profile they could scout well.

Here, some video I helped shoot of a vehicle I later ended up fixing in the field.

It is not as fun to drive as you'd think..

Seriously, screw ground vehicles.

Growing up in Florida, my next door neighbor was a retired Grumman engineer.  He had designed aircraft, and had great photos and models of craft he had worked on.

Most amazingly, he had worked on the lunar module design.  His name is on a plaque that was left on the moon, along with the names of the others who worked on the project.

Deus, if you ever get your hands on a GN, I want a ride

First of all, that's no mere GN.  It's a GNX :)  ...  Actually, now that I look at it, I think it is a GN dressed up as a GNX.  They missed a couple of minor details.

And if I ever get either, there will likely be a month long driving tour.  Good mid life crisis goal.  I'll be sure to pass by whatever state you live in, and we'll hunt down some cars to embarrass off the line.

There was a '87 Buick Turbo Regal WE4 for sale at one of my local auto dealers.  Looked to be in quite good condition.  Out of my price range though. :(

They tend to be quite expensive, if they are in good condition.  I used to see them go for 30-40k.  Now that I could justify that level of expenditure, they're quite a bit higher :(

Insanely jealous.  I've seen a few nice GNs in my area, but have not yet had a chance to see a GNX outside of pictures.  My first car was a limited edition Regal, which I drove as if it were a GN :D

Thought there was a Firebird variant that had Buick's turbo 6.

My all time favorite car.

Pontiac-GTO-1968-wallpaper.jpg

I've owned four over the years, but don't currently have a Goat.

My first 68 GTO was my second car.  I sold the last one I owned, it was kinda boring, I was stupid and bought an Auto. All the others were Manuals, one I swapped a Richmond gear 6 speed into. After my dad died I had no place to store the cars or tools so it killed it for me.

If I see a decent 68 or 69 for sale I would be tempted though, my father in law is going to install a car lift in his shop, they make things so much easier.

I've wanted one since high school. But when the time came to actually get a new car, I went with the more practical CX-5 instead.

The lack of fuel economy, and the maintenance requirements can be annoying at times.  The song the rotors sing at 9k rpm, however, makes it all worthwhile.

Though I very much enjoy mine:

I've always wanted this:

I worked with a guy, he had a GNX he drove to work two or three days a week. The guy was a real gear head, he also had a 68 GT 390, looked just like the bullet car, still has it too. He sold the GNX, but he took me for a ride in it once, it was scary as fuck.  It was not stock, he had a much bigger turbo, inter-cooler and some other stuff.  Also felt like you were riding in a car from the 60s, and it's almost true, its not like the chassis tech changed much, and lots of parts will bolt onto the older GM A bodies.

Anyway, was a bad ass car, and funny to watch the people it smoked, since no one knows what a GNX/T Type is.

I've watched great videos of them smoking Vipers and such.  With a bit of work, the GNs had enough torque to lift the front two tires completely off the ground on takeoff.  The GNX featured a suspension that would actually lift the rear end to combat this :)

Yeah his was the fastest car I ever rode in.  It would have smoked any of my GTOs, by a long shot. And I had a pretty fast Goat.

Same guy's brother has a freshly restored, by him, Boss 302, a 69. The thing sounds like a giant vacuum at idle, thing just sucks in air.

Now I'm really starting to miss owning an old muscle car. heh.

The 2nd generation Firebird did feature a 6 banger, but it was an I6. Once the third gen entered, the V6 offered was a measly 2.8 liter.

The 3.8 that the Olds/Buicks used is a great engine tho. My 02 Camaro was 3.8 powered, and it wasn't stock.

I heard horror stories of the 4.9Turbo Firebird, where the engine would literally come apart under boost.

But as I said, I was happy with my 4.9 'bird. That 301CI V8 came stock with a Quadrajet sitting on top. When I got mine, you could almost flood the engine out. Had it tuned so that the secondaries opened at around 75% throttle. That car was a blast for an old beater.

The '73's through '79's shared the same body style. '73 though '77 and round headlights and a split grill, except the '78 customs had that same grill. The '78s and '79s had square headlights and a non split grill.

Yours might have had the same base colour, but I suspect it may have been similar (unless of course yours was actually a '78) as the colour of my truck (including the striping) was a '78 only option on the '78 Explorer packages.

Alfa-Romeo-33-Stradale.jpg Thread can be closed now, as this can´t be topped :P.

+1. This was exactly what I wanted to post.

Just to hear the sound of this beauty, straight from my bookmarks:

(Btw what model is that? Is it a V8 Vantage?

Negative, is the new F-Type coupe. I'd say they really took inspiration from the Zagato of a couple of years ago. Still, it's one of the most beautiful cars I've seen in a while... probably the best one since the 8c Competizione for my taste.

Arizona is hard on paint

Interesting, that looks like brown to me. With the Tie down Cleats it looks like it may have been a Camper Special. Either way nice truck!

Since we are also taking about dream vehicles...

Here is my, is it not a thing of beauty?
