The big clue to its year is the vent windows. If it has not vent windows on the doors, with that body style, its a 68. The side markers are also a clue, they became mandatory in 1968.

Problem is, the picture itself shows '68.

The differences between 67/68 are negligible. One of the more prominent being marker lights, or lack thereof. Tail lights are different, but not visible here. Different grills also. This isn't an RS, so the grill isn't to different tho.

Old school sexy ftw..!

82 Lawson Replica!

Only made about 750 of them between 82 and 83 I believe. I owned that 82 for about 11 years.

I was seven in 82 and one of those gave me my first stiffy. God I love butch bikes. Bought a gs as a toy and just started laughing at it in comparison to my other bikes. I couldn't afford what I would need to do to it to make it rideable so I used it as a Christmas tree. then flogged it. I now fully understand why Harris and Magnum made money.

My fortieth birthday present to myself may well be a moriwaki rep of that era, with working brakes and suspension.

I'm pretty sure a vehicle with the nickname "Big Ugly Fat Fucker" doesn't belong in here.....

Haven't heard that. I like it personally.

A-10 is sick looking. I don't give USAF much credit with their opinions, although I'm not aware of a whole lot of them. I guess I'll have to start caring if I get into running big military projects, but until then I don't care.

Some aircraft deserve the fugly label, like ... half the X planes, that saucer looking one, any oblique wing aircraft I've seen (which is, like, one), Su-25, F117 (imo), Puffin (actually a lot of VTOLs are ugly), lots of UAVs (like that Honeywell one), etc. Space shuttle is also ugly, but it's a reentry vehicle crossed with the world's worst glider, not so much an airplane.

P-82 is ugly:

Haven't decided if I think V-22 is cute-ugly or just meh or what; I lean towards cute-ugly, but I have a soft spot because I've worked with V-22s a bit. So far, I think V-280 is the prettiest tiltrotor; can't wait to see the detailed design.

V-280:

B-52 is one of the prettier large aircraft, and while it isn't the prettiest, it's still rather impressive. Though I still think C-17 is the prettiest cargo plane and B-1 is the prettiest bomber.

@Wurst: Those F-22s gave me cancer.

X-29. Forward swept is cool.

Antonov An-225. Because fuck physics.

Rotary wing gooood; fixed wing baaaaad.

If I'm not much mistaken, that is my father in the cockpit. I just pulled the image off the 'net, but we had this picture (or one very, very similar to it) framed on our living room wall for years. It's probably still there for all I know.

More rotorcraft goodness:

USAF is intermittently not terribly complimentary about its planes.  B-52s are BUFFs, the A-10 is called the Warthog because it's ugly loud and rude.

Question for NA folk:

How expensive is to own, maintain and drive an old muscle car? i have seen videos of great oldies modernized (engine, trany, suspension, breaks...) how pricey is that? Specificly, how much muney would you need to bur to get a charger like in this video http://youtu.be/EHyZgP84IJU?t=6m27s

Depends on two things basically that make it go from "Good 5 year old car" Price range of about 8-15,000, to "Why dont i just buy a Porsche 80,000-150,000"

maintenance is probably the same or less the a normal car, considering how cheap the parts can be if you go for a nice mass produced engine/drivetrain.

Those two things that bring price down more then anything is mechanical aptitude for old working on simple carb'd engines and NOT caring about matching number cars, or basically buying a car that used to have a slant 6, but now has a decent but used big block or high performance small block, that was probably from another old muscle car or a pickup truck from the 70s/80s.

Also location matters, here in Michigan everybody loves Muscle cars because we made them, so you find a lot of people with decent enough cars for under ten grand, but you really have to look out for rust here, however if you take your time and inspect enough potential buys good chassis do come up at the right price.  Similarly cars don't rust much in Texas/Arizona/New Mexico/California and a lot of people will fly to the other side of the country just to get old cars of all sorts (Old BMWs, 80s RWD Toyotas, Alfa Romeo, lots of stuff etc) because of it.

I dont remember the exact specs but someone sold a pretty nice none number matching 1969 Mustang with a Big block (i think it was a proper 429 but i don't remember)basically a Mach 1 replica, that was originally a slant 6 car, that sold for $8,500 on ebay (didn't see it in real life, could have been rusty in some spots but outside looked exactly like this)

ford-00089-1.jpg

because its the real deal this is $64,000

Similarly if you wanted something like your GSX you could probably get a decent skylark and through a big-block in it for around 8-15k and make it pretty sweet (depending on your own time investment working on the car), or if your lazy you could buy a obvious light metallic blue clone like this (they never made real GSXs in anything but basically Yellow, White, and i believe a few special order reds) for 18k.  Personally i like light blue :D

I don't know if they have any episodes on youtube, but we have atleast a couple car shows in America that do some justice towards showing the massive price differences Muscle and classics can go for here, Counting Cars and Fast and Loud are two of them.

Most of the big-blocks get >8 MPG, most of the small blocks get  >12 MPG so i think fuel would have more costs then maintenance in europe as these cars don't usually break that easy, and when they do go wrong they usually tell you in some obvious fashion and give you time to react so long as your paying attention

PS: I don't know why but Michigan in particular has a lot of very chronically afflicted Alfa Romeo fans, sadly i caught their disease, luckily i haven't been wild enough to actually buy one, as I'm not personally good at DIY mechanical work, and i hate rust.

I used to own a 1970 Valiant 245 Pacer exactly like this (for the Americans - it was a road registered racing car as the biggest race in Australia at the time was the Bathurst 500 miles and it was only open to cars that had sold at least 500 examples. You could literally buy an exact copy of the winning car the day after the race.):

I would like to own either an Ariel Atom

"Why dont i just buy a Porsche 80,000-150,000"

The answer, of course is "because then everyone will think I'm a wanker".

Of course, you could buy an Audi and remove all doubt.
