Hi everyone. I was just watching a livestream by Russian player Kirilloid, who is really good, and I noticed that on his E-100 that he was playing, every member of his almost 4-skill crew has camouflage as their first skill, with repair being in the 3rd slot. Would anyone be able to answer as to why he might do that? I mean, he's a Russian Unicum, so he obviously knows what he is doing, but I have no idea why you'd use repair instead of things like recon, jack of all trades, snap shot,, clutch breaking and even firefighting. Thanks in advance

There was once a time when camo/repair/BIA and smthing else i think were the only skills.

He probably didn't want to waste gold to do a full crew retraining or lose exp with the credit crew retraining.

As for camouflage skill, it is next to useless on the E-100.

Then again, it's highly debatable whether crew skills actually provide any noticeable improvement to gameplay in the first place. I doubt you'd notice the insignificant boosts that Recon and Snap Shot provide.

Oh right, I forgot about how there used to be only 4 skills. Yeah, that makes sense I guess. He does have 141k gold though... I think I'll just use "Russians are crazy" as my answer. Thanks guys :)

There were only 3 skills at first, Repair, Camo and Firefighting.

Everything else came in the same patch.

Although miniscule, there is a difference in the range within which big tanks such as the E-100 will be spotted with/without camo.  When I say miniscule, I mean 1 meter or less.  There is some chance that this guy is good enough to work within that meter, and invisitank with an E-100.

Not likely, though.

Unless he does a Q and A, or takes questions on his live stream, we may never know.  I certainly can't think of a rational reason.

I spotted this about 2 weeks ago, probably in the same stream. I was speechless. I showed it to jacg123, and we discussed it for 2 minutes. There simply isn't a reason we could come up with for camo on the E-100. Perhaps it was in prep for 8.6, when the camo mechanics change? With 140k gold...I've got no answers.

But it goes go to show how baller Kirilloid is as a player, in that he can literally waste his first crew skill and still pwn hard.

jacg123: "that skill should be BiA, wtf"

Yep he is most likely too cheap to redo his skills.

Camo on a e100 is like Rosie O Donnell hiding behind Tyra Banks

Anfield can you make an E-100 guide? Be awesome especially since there be discount for E-100 line.

The person that you are talking about with camo on his e-100 is probably a serious tournament player. In a tournament setting giving away the least possible information to your opponents is your number one priority. In this setting repairs is far less useful. Most people that play tournament and have studied a lot of the tactics in tournaments know that even camo on something as silly as an E-100 is worthwhile. The difference is probably only a few meters in the open and maybe 20-30 behind a bush but it is still worth it. It will be worth even more after 8.6 since camo will be a flat number.

If you are not playing tournaments regularly then I completely agree repairs or many other things will give you more value.

I suppose I probably should.

Just watching Anfield's stream is largely sufficient as E100 guide.

Mimicking him was enough for me to get 2.7k dpg In E100.

I guess I'm too old. I don't get how  to make those "stream" things work.

Is you tube just not cool enough?

According to my calculations using the formulae available on the wiki, max camo skill, vents, and camo paint would make about 1.31% difference on an E-100 against something with 445 meters of spotting power. That's ~5.8 meters. This is without environmental camo, though, which is additive instead of multiplicative and helps a lot more.

I could be wrong, of course. The formulae are a little weird.

I suppose from a "every little bit helps" point of view it works but it seems like there would be so much better choices for an E100. I put camo paint on mine but not because I have any illusion of hiding it but because a slight advantage may be all that I need to get off one more shot, winning the battle. In the case of paint, that advantage is easy to apply and doesn't sacrifice anything. I doubt I would take camo for a crew skill until I get 4 or 5 crew skills on it and since I am just getting a second skill....that will be a while.

I know when the crew skills changed over from the original three and we got crew skill resets, I picked alot of bad choices in skills. I am just now changing the last of those bad choices out.
