It's funny, when we had TC Marcia a couple of years ago it started as a cat 5 but apparently was cat 2 when it got to Rocky. Having been through a few, I thought it was the worst I had seen - no power in Rocky for 9 days, power lines down everywhere, trees down everywhere. So I know what you mean by "didn't feel like a cat 2".

Hope it's all ok for you bud. Keep an eye on the water situation if power is out - town water sitting in lines tends to go bad after 3 days so think about boiling it if power stays out. Rain water tanks are great for these situations but not everyone has them.

Just got power back now, we've been boiling water to drink but they tested the reserves and it's all good so we can stop that. We just got the generator running for the fridges, freezer and a fan. 3 hours later and powers back hahaha.

 

Driving around Darwin today and I feel like we got off pretty light, we had a downed tree that wasn't very big and a bunch of branches and that was most of it. Alot of places got entire trees on their houses or cars, everywhere you go there's massive uprooted trees that have super shallow root systems so a bit of wind knocks their arse over. I think they'll stop planting African mahogany's and start planting more gums and the like.

 

Funny enough, was watching the news the night before we got hit, I think it was channel 7, and for the weather in Darwin we were supposedly going to have light showers according to the weather lady in Melbourne which made me chuckle

Has anyone noticed that ASIA has the most active CR/D subforum on WoTLabs?

It's like the ASIA folks had no CR/D on the official forums at all...

A little under 4 hours till it should be up.

 

And there is plenty to download now in case you hadn't already. About 3GB on top of the pre download by the looks.
