Show Off Your Rig

Recommended Posts

Yea the feel is nice, but dat noise...

Maybe if I ever get in to serious twitch games, like CS:GO I might convert, but until then, high-end membrane ftw.

I was using a Razer Lycosa membrane keyboard for a while and had nothing but good things to say about it.  It was large enough to be unwieldily on a small desk, but since I've gotten the K70, I'm never going back.

If you ever get the chance, try the blue switches, they've the same or very similar sound levels as a membrane

Wait what? Blue switches are the loudest motherfuckers out there.

Then i was incorrect, I forget which switch is designed to be quiet.

Red is the quiet one. Been using an Ducky Shine 3 with Red keys for a few months now, I can't go back to membrane keys. All comes down to personal preference of course.

I'm willing to bet that my rig is one of the more unique ones around.

The box isn't super special. At this point it's a couple years old. Key specs:

AMD FX-8350 4GHz, 8-core; 16GB DDR3; Radeon HD 7850.

Details:

ASUS M5A99FX Pro

AMD FX-8350 Black Edition Vishera 8-Core 4.0GHz

16GB G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series DDR3 1866

PowerColor AX7850 2GBD5-DH Radeon HD 7850 2GB GDDR5

2X Mushkin Enhanced Chronos Deluxe 240GB SATA III SSDs in a RAID-0

2X Western Digital 2TB SATA Drives in a RAID-1

Corsair HX850 850W Modular Active PFC Power Supply

No, the monitors aren't wierd and blue. That's just because of the white balance. The cheap CFLs are really orange.

The real majesty of the rig is the screen. 102" 1080p projection screen with full 5.1 surround sound.

Again, the blueness is because of the white balance. This is what it looks like without WB adjustment:

The full theater seats 10 comfortably. We have movie nights every couple weeks. The mic stand is for TS.

With all the ambient lights off, the contrast ratio is pretty good:

As measured on the screen, that gun barrel is 20" long.

I dont know if I want to show mine off seeing as it's the Frankenstein of PCs.

Before the white borg cube I pictured above earlier, this was my build:

Very franken PC, methinks....

There is no shame in frankenPCs.  None at all.

*EDIT*  That's also a 27" iMac in the bottom left.  Only had a "meh" video card at best, so it's been relegated to closet duty.  I have too many computers D:

I just can't stand the noise. My old room mate had one, and it was the most irritating thing I've ever had to listen to.

Potato Cam for the Potato PC...

FITTING...

No bulli pls, I spend all my shekels on PC things and only had a shitty digital camera from 05.  I've not got an HTC One with a far superior camera, but I'll never own a proper camera because PC parts are funzies.
