IS-7 Definitive Guide [Removed]

Any useful combat tactics against the IS-7? I have trouble with this tank in some of my lower tiers.

Also,I would highly recommend Sixth Sense FIRST (bring repairs to 100% then drop) as it it too good of a skill to pass up.

I would suggest at least 30% gold round load out on any tank, because if you somehow shot 70% of your regular ammo, that is a clear indication that the situation is dire.

If your gun has sufficient penetration (160mm+) you can shoot at the sides of the hull between the tracks and the spaced armor. The thickness of the armor there is 100mm.

 

Basically thats it, otherwise the IS-7 is pretty good @ bashing lower tiers.

True, I just assumed most players would have a Crew with three skills by the time they reach the IS-7. Sixth sense on any tank is a perk you need ASAP.

 

Tip:

 

There is the problem with the extra Loader compared to the IS-8, but I used one of the loaders from my KV back in the day. If you are grinding the IS-4 and IS-7 lines at the same time you can use one of the Loaders from the ST-1 since the IS-4 has a crew of four.

That is a valid point, but I prefer to carry as few "gold" shells as possible. Of course thats a mater of personal preference.

The ridiculous aimtime is a key weakness of the tank, so I drop vents in favor of a GLD. Works much better for me.

If a tank can mount a Vert. Stab. I always pick it over a GLD.

 

I guess its a mater of preference, but I feel the bonus it gives is too small compared to the Vert. Stab.

He is suggesting removing ventilation I believe in order to stack vert with GLD for best aim time.

In what universe is Designated Target more useful than Deadeye or Snap Shot?

 

The correct answer is: No universe, Designated Target is a useless Perk.

Fair point. 

 

But I have Snap Shot on a few tanks (And its not something incredible) I decided to try out something. I have never used Dead Eye, seems equaly useless to me.

I'm trialing it on the test server. The aim time is brutal. I'm running VStab, GLD, 100% snapshot, 70% smooth ride and food. I still want to stab my eyes with a rusty fork.

 

I haven't got a three skill RU heavy crew yet so not BIA. I also have a rammer instead of vents. So in theory I can improve it a bit more. Has anyone tried a max aim time redction build?

Ive tried running it with BiA/Snaphot + Vert. Stab./Rammer/Vents +  Battle Rations and its still terribad.

You could run vents/gld/vert stab to compress the aimtime as much as possible, but the loss of the rammer is too much of a sacrifice for an already slow firing tank IMO.

I'm enjoying mine. Retrained my 3 skill KV-5 crew and play using them. Not equipment yet but it does well enough :-)

I'm having trouble getting my w/r in this tank above 30%....and i'm not a terribad player.  Are there any little nuggets of info that you can pass along to help me?

Need Snap Shot on gunner, firefighting seems useless. Camo and driver/gunner skills instead.

 

Equipment should be Rammer/VStab/EGLD for something with aim time this long.

I would train snapshot up to 100%, then switch the entire crew to BIA (based on their other skills), and redo snapshot again for second set, then repair, then whatever....

Ammo loadout sucks, no reason not to bring more APCR - your AP pen is on the low side and this is a T10 vehicle, you shouldn't skimp on ammo.

 

Too many facts we probably already know; this is wotlabs. You've got a few lines telling us how to use these facts, this could be expanded upon.

 

Vents are bad with the S-70's aimtime. GLD or bust.

 

Default recommendation should include auto extings, not manual.

 

Kind of skimped over how bad the S-70 is. It's literally the worst gun of any tier 10 tank.

To add to the discussion above, Rexxie hit most of the high points, but I'll expand a bit.

 

The crew skills are just woeful and poorly chosen. BiA is too much of an investment for too little reward as a first skill. Either repair (it is a brawling heavy with huge shell-eating tracks) or 6th/gunnery/safe stowage is your optimal first set, with the other being the second set. I'd pick camo over FF, for while the camo isn't great, it's still something (on par with an E-50M or M48A1).

 

Agree with the GLD/Rammer/Stab setup.

Agree with more premium shells & consumables.

 

And yes, the Maus gun is worse at almost everything.

Skills are a matter of personal choice. Thats why I wrote "I use this configuration" and not "You must use this configuration"
 
2  Again, personal preference, you can run 90% APCR if you like.
 
I cant really see how you can expand more. This a tank guide, not a map/tactics/mechanics guide.
 
4 I dont like EGLD, found it useless on most of my tanks
 
5 At the times of writing Auto extinguishers cost 20 000 credits
 
6 Yes the S-70 is bad, but the whole platform isnt great nowadays.

The 12.8cm is better in almost every parameter exept the reload speed.
