How to search these forums effectively

Recommended Posts

Forum search functions don't work.

  1. Navigate to www.google.com
  2. Type this, without quotes or brackets: "site:forum.wotlabs.net [search text here]"
  3. Profit

(copy past of CraBeatOff's post, but was needed in this section too for any beginners coming up with redundant questions - Tito)

Thanks for the tip Tito; I'm sure that'll be very helpful as I'm beginning the learning process :)

One note I'd like to add for Firefox/Chrome users: use keywords / search engines. Doing this, I can type "wotl hetzer" in my browser right now, and it takes me right to the page.

How To:

Firefox:

  • Make a bookmark of Google.com
  • Find the bookmark, right click, and press Properties
  • Change the URL (Location) to this:

    http://www.google.com/search?q=site:forum.wotlabs.net %s
  • Change the keyword to whatever you like; you'll always type <keyword> <searchterm> into your address bar.
  • Press Save
  • Profit.
Chrome: About the same process, just a little more annoying to do (thanks Google)
  • Go to Settings
  • Click Manage Search Engines
  • Scroll to the bottom under Other Search Engines, where you can add a new one
    • First column doesn't matter, name it whatever
    • Put your keyword (wotl) in column two
    • Copy the URL into the third column.

      http://www.google.com/search?q=site:forum.wotlabs.net %s
  • Press Done
  • Profit.
