Worth it to try and bring my overall up?

Recommended Posts

My ultimate end goal has been to reach overall purple I guess, as there's lots of Tier 10s which I couldn't care if I never get/don't want to get.

I myself get a bit frustrated when I can't end the day on 3700+ WN8 which often lends to playing on tilt and doing even worse. Why? Simply because it improves my overall WN just a bit faster. 72% will even out the 55% eventually.

The question is, should I really care about getting that 60%/2350? Just a number in the end after all. I know it'll get there eventually with the win rate at 72-73%, question is just whether I want to do it by tryharding at 38-4000 or playing as I'd normally do, at say just 35-3700.

Are you enjoying what you're now doing?

If yes - continue.

If no - cease.

I can't think of any doors 3800 would open that 3400 wouldn't, not that there's many doors either would open alone.

Me trying to buff E50m stats to 2.8k D/G

Not worth it when you suck like me:(

Edit: WN8 is obsolete and when you're better than most purples why care?

Somewhere between 20,000 battles and where I am now (at 27K), I totally stopped caring about my overall and realized the game was becoming a chore for the sake of a purple number. I'm still bringing my overall up ever so slowly (I was at 56.00 about a month ago, now at 56.10) by just playing whatever I feel like and having fun in it. It beats stressing out over every loss and trying to pad. It'll take about 2-3 years for me to get to 60% overall, but I simply don't give a fuck any more. I don't even know if the game will hold my attention until then, with WT: Ground Forces and Armored Warfare coming out soon.

If you feel that the game is becoming a chore to reach 60%, you need to take a step back. We all like our stats, but to some extent, we still play5fun.

If it gives you some sort of purpose so you actually want to play, go for it. If it makes you hate yourself and resent playing the game, no. I got to overall purple and the next week was hell because of the clickers focusing me. I played bad for a week and now I'm back to blue. Not as many arty issues.

To put it in perspective, the only reason why I wanted good stats was to show that I was a competent player. This allowed me to join a high end clan and make friends with other unicums. After I reached my goal I became extremely care free and now I really only play to have fun or do tournaments for a completely different level of competition.

It's apparent that even through your green/blue overall you've managed to achieve a high wn8 and win rate showing you understand how the game works. Because of this fact I view you as a good player among the rest of the good players in the community and entrust you to make smart plays and give good advice to players that want to improve.

In my opinion you've set yourself pretty high, there's no reason to chug along trying to hit purple overall since you have such a high number of battles but if it's something you desire greatly then go for it. Just know that there will be little difference in how people see you now and if you manage to play another 10-15k battles to hit purple overall.

The sheer number of battles you have already fought is going to make it extremely difficult to get to 60%. It works both way: I went through an extreme potato phase recently and only dropped my win rate .5%. At this point, I'd say relax. Your 60 day stats are to be envied.

I'm in a similar boat, but due to may apparent lack of skill and tendency for derpitude, I've plateaued between 2.5-2.7k WN8.

Don't worry about your overall... With 20k+ games, by the time you've reached your goal there will probably have been 2 or 3 more WNx metrics or something...

Besides, XVM camoflauge is still the best. I have an alternate (my wife's account) and have played enough games in it for purple overall... Anything above tier-V and I get focused down by everything and called a rerolling stat-whore...

I really don't care that much about my overall. I have been playing4fun for years, I won't pad to purple for years just to get focused on the field. It's the recents that tell my current performance.

If I wanted to join a clan and some recruiter told me I am to bad because of overall I'd probably laugh in his face.

Back when I started playing there was no 6th sense, no gold rounds for silver, no wotlabs. Back in the days we had nothing, and even that was scarce. Kids nowadays can't even interpret the numbers because they were not around. How do you judge tank statistics of e.g an IS-4 that was played 3 years ago if you weren't around?

Tomato camo is useful.

Overall has very little value, attitude and the level at which you play (currently) are far more important.

Thanks for the replies :3

That being said, should simply play for fun/win I guess.

I had a little reroll account with purple WN7. (T49 spam)

And XVM camo is not to be underestimated. Arty shits hard on you...

So be happy with a worse overall.

This is the main reason I'm happy with my overall. Even though I'm excited that fairly soon, I'm not going to be a green scrub anymore, I still have some time left before I jump up on the clickers' lists of priority.

I have reached the point where I care very little about my overall stats. The number of games I have already played guarantees that any changes will be slow. Besides a camovalue of almost 1000 points of WN8 can be handy at times.

To some degree, my recent stats still matter to me but only as a confirmation that my standard of play doesn't drop.

What does matter is finding new ways to have fun - this has led me to phase out a lot of tanks I used to enjoy: I have come to despise heavies and I am bored of TDs. Arty is annoying to play. Lights are getting screwed by the map making department with every new map overhaul.

On the contrary, I am having a blast in meds: I am grinding the Lorraine (and actually enjoy it), the T-54 and the Pershing and round out this lineup with the Object 416 and the Type 59.

P.s.: Premium tanks apart, the Object 416 is the best remedy against the battletier X disease. 330 HEAT pen makes the tier discrepancy almost irrelevant.
