Feeling Luchs-y, PzIIG? Or medium rare?

Me again, with a similar question to last time. Going up to the Leo 1, at the Panzer II G, trying to make up my mind on where to go from here. The line diverges, then rejoins at the Indien-Panzer, that much I know. What I want to know is whether to go through the Luchs-Aufklarungspanther line or the VK 20.01 D-VK30.02 D line. Please help!

If your goal is to get the Leo1 then I would go through the medium line as it will get you more used to how the line plays and allow you to train a medium crew up through the tiers. You could use gold to move a light tank crew to the medium and the initial skills would probably be the same, but the jarring difference between tier 7 light tank play and tier 8 medium tank play would probably hurt you. Plus, the 30.02 D is a hidden gem.

Going through the medium line will save you the headache of scout matchmaking, which I think is reason enough to chose it over the light line unless there are tanks in the LT line you want to play. But you may want to just play both in that case.

Only valid advice for a new player like you is stay away from light tanks with scout-matchmaking (starting at tier IV most light tanks can see tanks several tiers higher).

 

In order to play light tanks effectively, you need good map knowledge and a thourough understanding of vision mechanics. Both are things that need time to acquire.

 

Keep the scouts for later. They can be fun to play but they are also the most challenging class in the game since you have no armor, very limited hp and will fight a lot of high tier vehicles.

yeah, figured that out when I went through the A-20 to get my T-34. Not actually one of my worst tanks, but definitely my worst survival rate. Not gonna make that mistake again in a hurry.

I would advise you too go the medium line, all the tanks in the light tank line get scout matchmaking, so you even can get into tier 8 matches with your luchs. you can still pick up the luchs later when you got more experience, it is a great little tank one of my favorites.
