EVE Online ... still a beautiful thing.

Agony Unleashed is running a public roam this Saturday.

It's a great opportunity to see what small-ship gang warfare is like if you haven't tried it out yet. Agony will be providing logistics and ewar support, so if all you have is a T1-fit armor-tanked cruiser come along anyway, and if you can't do that bring a tackle frig and come along anyway ;)

So I had a lovely day yesterday screwing over a scammer.  He was one of those "fail buy order" guys that had all the sell orders in the region so he could pull the buy order as soon as someone purchased his overpriced sell order.

I unfortunately can't remember what the gun was, but I noticed on EVE-Central I could buy it for 100M in a system 20 jumps away.  This guy was trying to sell them for 600M in Amarr with his buy order listed for 800M.  Since it was a weapon I could use anyway, I decided to take a chance on it and made the 20 system jump to purchase my item.

Thirty minutes late I arrived back in Amarr to see the 800M buy order still up.  Nothing like making a quick 700M profit for 30 minutes of work.  \o/

Actually, he messed up. He wasn't using margin trading and had too much money in escrow. Usually the trick isn't for you to buy his sell order. Everyone knows about the scam now, the trick is to make people think they can outsmart you.

If he had setup a sell order for an uncommon item at 100m which is still overpriced AND have margin trading trained. All he would have to do is make sure he had no money to cover his buy order and you'd have been scammed because you thought you could have outsmarted him.

You actually found the dumbest scammer in the game. The whole point of the margin trading scam is that you don't keep enough isk in your for the buy order to complete.

That's fucking amazing. EvE is amazeballs.

In other news, I've really been enjoying w-space in my Probe. I've got two extras waiting for me in Amarr, and the 4 mil fitting cost is easy to cover many times over with one good data/relic run. As such, I'm focusing all of my training on maxing out Archaeology and Hacking so I can get those T2 analyzers. Covops can wait -- these cheapo T1 scanning frigates w/ cloaking are good enough for my purposes!

I thought there were rats defending wormhole exploration sites...is that not true, or are you dealing with them in some other way?

So I fought two dramiels.

Should I make a "blog" in this thread about me roaming low/null/wormholes and killing things?

I really wish I still actively played, you guys seem to be having a lot of fun.

What is Thera and how do you get there?

It's a new wormhole system they added.

Tell gorski I said he's a fucking shitty carebear. Like the rest of VoC.

And if you post your "blog" here, I'll probably read it.

My connection has been crap at home and i can't even login to check my skills.

Well at least you have a skill queue just get the longest skills and train them. Before skill queue's you'd have to wake up in the morning just to change some skills.

How many players are online on a typical evening? For such an old game you'd think they'd have substantially more players leaving then joining. Reason I ask is that it seems in eve, as much as in any game, the players make the game.

I'd love to give the game a shot, but I really can't commit to learning a whole new game. It's one of those things where I'm content reading about it and putting it in my proverbial backlog for when I find some of that elusive thing known as "time".

Haven't seen less than 24k online at a time yet and up to 39k a few times.

Right now it's 25k and there's always over a thousand players just in Jita.

It's a lot of fun being ambushed by a Moros and his friends on a simple item pickup.

Well...

I fit a covops and scanned down 2 unstable wormholes. Before I ventured through I went back to the station to jump clone out of my current clone filled with skill implants. Then I realized I was already at my max so I had to destroy an existing one. However, all my jump clones were in important locations except for one in outer ring. Turns out the one in outer ring still has a bunch of T2 modules and a stray assault frigate and stealth bomber, I threw everything up on the market and reprocessed the rest.

Now to wait 19 hours to get back to high sec and back in my cov ops.

So as I'm leaving for basic training on monday, I thought it apropriate to hand out my piles and piles of "things" to you guys.

I'll follow this post up with another one detailing how I'm planing on dividing it all up, but there's enough for everyone to walk away with something nice (I hope).

Astroniomix, It's nice to see you giving stuff away. Just don't give it all away so you can't come back. I've made that mistake, sold my chars/supers (yes, plural) and gave it all away. Came back and I had nothing.

I'm holding onto all of the money in my wallet as well as most of my "collector's" items. So I'll be back.

Do you have any Gallente battleships you don't want?  :P

In other news, I got a Hyperion this morning.

Congratz! I remember my first battleship, I felt like the king of the world.

I lost it within a couple of days.  Same thing happened with my first carrier...died in a week.

On the positive side - I've never lost a dread or super so I got that going for me which is nice.
